Two docking bays?

Post by JazHaz »

Is it possible to have two docking bays on a ship?

I'm thinking along the lines of the Battlestar Galactica, where it had two bays slung on the port and starboard sides of the ship.

Especially as someone has already designed some Colonial Vipers to go along with it....! 8)

Cheers,

Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge. 8)
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!

I think the straightforward answer is "no". But more talented people on the board will confirm (or deny) this shortly.

hmm, perhaps it might be possible for stations, the trick would be to make it actually 2 stations thats are so close that theres no gap, and are perfectly synchronised in rotations and orbit... would be hard to do.

I'm pretty sure you can't. i'm sure the Galactica model went through all this a while ago.

You may already have guessed from Killer Wolf's answer that there already exists a Battlestar Galactica project here. Just search for its thread (probably a couple of pages down in the Expansion Pack forum), and you will find all the pain with the docking bays in it.

L did add the Galactica as INRA Battlestar to OSE - in previous versions of the game I usually crashed while attempting to dock, but with trunk, changed Caduceus subentity orientation and shift-loading oolite, I recently I encountered a cloaked one and managed to dock manually without incident. However, I only tried the port dock, not the starboard one...from the way it looks, I would expect that they both do work, though...

It started out as Realistic Shipyards, I think.
It's a long tale:

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Yes. Just seen the Leaving thread. Wasn't aware of this, but have only been around Oolite for a short while.

Yeah it got right nasty at times... as I have no interest in that type of OXP, and licensing issues are beyond me, I stayed out of it.

Still, some of the stuff was said in the heat of the moment, and all that jazz: L is still around, and OE is being worked on, and LittleBear is still around too, and once his workload relents a bit, he might well manage to find the time to continue with Random Hits, and a few of his other OXPs...

About licensing issues, hopefully everybody from now on will at least write a line or two to indicate what's what! Me, I tend to use the CC-NC-by-SA 'incantation', and that seems to ward off most evil spirits! :)
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)
