Is it possible to make minable moons like in FFE. So that you could by a mining machine and put (or dock) it on the surface of a Griff Planet (in fact a ship) Make the Griff Planet a little bigger. Then give it a moon surface.
Then you could start your own mining business. And Mine for Gem Stones, Gold, Minerals, Platinium or Radioactives?
Minable Moons with the Griff Planet object?

You could also start with the two big asteroid models from AsteroidStorm.oxp instead of a moon.
Attach a place to land to them, and set up some mission screens about the mining process. Give it a certain chance that the mining operation is already owned by somebody else (you may overthrow him), and if you successfully get into the mining business, you may revisit the asteroid after a certain amount of time and find a certain amount of precious metals, alloys, or radioactives, which you then can sell at the main station.
Of course, the mine would be exhausted after some time. A nice effect would be to exchange the asteroid model on each re-visit, making it smaller and smaller, as more and more of it gets mined away. Could be doable with shaders as well?!?

Would the mine stay after a jump from the system though? It wouldn't reset?Commander McLane wrote:...if you successfully get into the mining business, you may revisit the asteroid after a certain amount of time...

Depends on how it is scripted. The script would have to store the system and the position of the asteroid within the system, and would simply re-create it every time you re-visit.JazHaz wrote:Would the mine stay after a jump from the system though? A variation on Griff's burning alloys (i.e. slower) and you could actually watch the asteroid being mined if you were so inclined....Commander McLane wrote:You could also start with the two big asteroid models from AsteroidStorm.oxp instead of a moon.
