Fugitive battleship?
Hi,
Not sure this is a bug but on a number of occasions I've come across a 'Fugitive Battleship' (I think, big rectangular jobbie that flies sideways!) accompanied by a large flotilla of about 15+ offender ships flying slowly in a nice V formation. First time I investigated I was able to pretty much pick off the escort ships with barely a murmur from them or their wingmen, then picked off the Battleship at range. Subsequently I've taken out the Battleship first prompting the wingment to turn on me which was a bit more interesting.
Are these intentional encounters and responses (OXP driven) or some sort of quirk?
I did try a search and this was the closest I could find to the above but still quite different, I think.
Running Windows XP Media Centre v5.1 sp3, Oolite 1.73.4 with the following OXP's:
Amen Bricks Megaships; Anarchies 2.3; Behemoth 2.5.4; BehemothSpacewar 1.2.1; BountyScanner 1.061; Cargo_wrecks_teaser 1.5.3; Cataclysm; cobra3njx; Commies; DeepSpacePirates 1.2.3; Dictators 1.3; Dredgers 2.2.6; Executive Spaceways 2.2; Freaky Thargoids 3.1; Fuel Tank 2.2; Gates 1.00; Generation Ships 1.1; Globestation 2.0; gwxstations; halsis; impcourier; Llama; Marett_vol1; Missile Rack 1.02; murgh_xships 1.0.1; newships; nuvipers; orbits; PAGroove_Stations 1.2.1; Pirate coves 1.2.1; RandomHits 1.3.6; Rock Hermit Locater 1.3; Saleza 2.1; Thargorn Threat 1.3.1; Transports 2.51; Trident Down 1.4; UPS-courier 1.6.1; Vector 1.3; x-ships.

Re: Fugitive battleship?
The ship you encountered is from Amen_Bricks_Megaships.oxp That one has 16 escorts defined. I just downloaded it, but have not installed it. First, but unrelated to your report, it has a faulty shipdata.plist. It won't run on a mac and could give strange things on window machines. Two keys of the first ship are badly defined. (missile_role is missing and max_cargo has no value)Nijik wrote:Hi,

To the escorts not reacting, that is an Oolite bug. Introduced in 1.73 and already fixed for 1.74. With 1.73, escorts of pirate-ships do not react to group-attack commands when their mother is part of a group. Escorts of traders do react correctly. This battleship you are seeing is added as a pirate.
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions

The full error report for the OXP can be found here:
https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=57566#57566
Unfortunately Amen Brick only re-surfaced once again after releasing this OXP. I seem to remember that he kind of promised to fix it, but nothing has happened since.
@ Nijik: If you're interested, I can send you my local version of the shipdata.plist, which fixes all bugs, and gives my interpretation of the probably intended stats of the ships.

Your profile rank changes according to how many posts you make.
Long way to go.
