I'm resurecting this tread, Why? Because I think making something that invades reality is way cool. Also I've found some more specialist websites who do the same sort of thing.

But more specifically:

If you read nothing else here, then read this thread.
Is there any chance of a sticky? Or is this a little bit obscure?

Weird, it's the video from a hobbyist who actually built a working one of these

which I wouldn't have thought came with copyright restrictions...

Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)
Maybe something to do with the music he used on the video? (Danger Zone from Top Gun)treczoks wrote:No, I haven't: Not available in my country due to copyright restrictions.ramon wrote:you've probably all seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBD9Juqx7PI

Well if you can't go OTT over a hobby then what can you go OTT over?
To be honest if I could set up a system that made me feel like I was floating in space by simply having cockpit like tech a good bucket seat and a full vision screen (at a price that won't stop my daughter going to college) then hell, I'm there.
As for "only a game", well so is (given a long enough time line) pretty much everything really. To be honest apathy kills anything so the spark of enthusiasm in any creative venture is (in the most part) to be recognized and cheered on.
Most of us cannot fly around space yet, so we dream.

I sometimes still dream of my visit to some research lab around 15 years ago. Not only that they had a 3d room (you could look anywhere freely and have the proper 3d image there, pretty much like the control room of a Minbari cruiser!) but they also did have a chair that would move with 4g acceleration according to the computers calculations. The demo was a rollercoaster (the subject had glasses with internal LCD display) which was pretty much fun, but just imagine that thing for a flight simulator (might be good that it's not supporting as many g as a fighter plane, or the player might really get red/black out).ClymAngus wrote:To be honest if I could set up a system that made me feel like I was floating in space by simply having cockpit like tech a good bucket seat and a full vision screen (at a price that won't stop my daughter going to college) then hell, I'm there.

Ok I'm rezzing this thread. More as a reference really so I can look it up when I'm building my "setup".
Daddy hoggy might be more into this one than others but:
I have been looking into the entire cockpit computer system. Found some people who do military control systems;
They do usb too:
