Graphics and MacBook
Sorry if this has been already discussed (as I suspect it must have).
I'm on a 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB and 667 MHz - will the OXPs with more developed graphics run OK without probs and/or slowing everything down ridiculously?

You should be fairly ok as far a s processor & memory are concerned, I'm assuming you have a mini. if you've got gma950 you might not be able to see all the graphic goodness though. (You need to have shaders:full enabled for that...)

Pants - that's why I was going to buy that LT2030u - I thought the GMA950 COULD do shaders - oh well - won't be buying that then (at least if I do it won't be for Oolite - shaders or nothing for me!)Cmdr James wrote:you dont have a graphics card which can do shaders then. the game will run fine, but you need to disable shaders.

Yep, sorry about the misleading information. It turns out I saw one of the new generation 'ION' netbooks, and thought it was a normal one. They're identical to all the other netbooks, but they can do shaders and stuff (a quick search later, I found the cheapest of this new shaders capable lot - HP 311 / PoV Mobii ION, but either of them is a smidge over 300 squids...)

Not quite. He has a chip which can do shaders, but only very simple ones. Fragment shaders which exceed its limits compile (because they’re valid) but don’t run, so you everything is black.Cmdr James wrote:you dont have a graphics card which can do shaders then. the game will run fine, but you need to disable shaders.
Simple shader mode works, at least with the built-in shader, but the lighting problems are distracting.

Grrrr to Intel for being so far behind the curve when it comes to gfx (in general - not just laptop/netbook ones)Ahruman wrote:Not quite. I will keep looking then - my friend is still going to the US in Jan so I will wait and see what's available Stateside around Christmas and for how much.
@Kaks - no worries - C'est al vie

The graphic difference between simple shaders and full shaders seems to be huge. Can I hope for a step between where I can enjoy better graphics with my GMA 950? I mean, the shaders are a problem for the video card, but the textures shouldn't be.
Edit: I somehow thought the texture-packs only work if you set the shader to full, because I only had gritty coriolis installed and it didn't work. So, the post is senseless and you can delete it... gritty coriolis still doesn't work somehow, though.
