A G8 route for you.

Starting in the south west corner of the map:
Onatce-Ererso-Biatzate-Leater-Usmaedin-Zaonrixe-Diesdi-Qurixean-Soladiar-Xeoresce-Usreinxe-Maabile-Labirior-Biorle-Esusge-Titiridi-Esinen-Enbeza-Didilaer-Xebeis-Atmabe-Inorle-Laedat-Tetige-Ceraerar-Esusale-Reusleed-Anrasoti-Orqure-Orlaaror-Onanqu-Isxein-Enedge-Oredaris-Esmara-Getiusza-Ceanquan-Tevebebi-Iseror-Soisqu-Laorlaza-Ususoner-Intiso-Axebe-Xeceon-Legece-Arbetequ-Maletees-Resobi-Raaed-Inbein-Arqubi-Vebixe-Vemaed.

Meanders across the entire map. G8 route indeed.

I'll update that as soon as I can access the illustrator files on Monday. In the mean time I've done some updates to both maps. Including my "pound of flesh" from map 8.

Structure complete sectors being discussed (Routes & Systems done)

It's one thing to know intellectually that that route meanders across the entire map. It's another to actually see it. Wow.

Further investigation reveals that it can also be extended.

From the north-eastern terminus:
Vemaed-Isaso-Orlatein-Dieranor-Arlale-Ereson-Onusra-Zaatquat-Ceenti-Quedbiqu-Querbeis-Leesusen-Edsoan-Endiqu-Tiatza-Bigexein-Orbira-Maenes

You could create a loop here by going to Reusleed, but I don't want to, so I'm choosing Aedis.

Maenes-Aedis-Veusbi-Biis-Releleat. And that's it.

I don't follow the "trade routes" in gameplay... but the system names...

...it doesn't matter how many times I've read them over the years, they still fascinate and amuse.

What a Game!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

OK adding these extra bits, as for a name I've decided upon something in honor of all the effort that Mr N has put into the routes;

Spaceway 8-L1 (The Nemoricus Arc)

I've also scetched in some possible regions. There's lots of room left for others. Or throw mine out the door and go with your own. Whatever floats your boat.

Updates on the way.

Oh, thank you. Truth be told, it's not very hard to find these routes. I just look for long chains of green and grey, trying to keep the economic change as large as possible as I do. More specifically, I find a short chain of good links and then extend it as far as I can.

Actually, the route I've found here is a bit of a problem, as it touches on so many places that it breaks up any other possible routes into small chunks not really worth bothering with.

The exception is the region in the center of the southern border of the map. However, there is a route in it, though it doesn't go very far:

Enerqu-Eresorbe-Areran-Rebite-Texeare-Biraa-Ormabiin

It doesn't really go much further than this, unless you're willing to either risk your wallet or your life.

Inisbi-Ustiza-Asoarle-Esmara takes you to L1, but the first step isn't very profitable.

Bianbes-Isdidied-Ustiza-Asoarle-Esmara also does so, but Bianbes is a feudal world and as such is relatively dangerous.

EDIT: In G6, my trans-industrial belt route would be improved by changing Relequar-Enqura-Usquat-Leorqu to Relequar-Zarienla-Leorqu. In this one you lose less by restricting it to two industrial-industrial links instead of three. However, I believe that the reason I had it as I did was that the big profit from a maximum economic difference made up for those links.

Ok, I'll do my best to keep up. May take a day or two to sort out the g6 one though. (G6, shudder, bad memories).

Oh which do you prefer:
Nemoricus arc
or Nemorican arc

The first one is more accurate but the second one rolls off the tongue a touch better. Your choice entirely. :)

Well, the latter sounds adjectival, so I'd go with that.

As far as my suggested change to the G6 route goes, it would be nice to get a cost/benefit analysis of the relative merits of the two routes.

Yes, well until the rough guide gets to map six I think we're going to be a little out of luck there. We might be able to jack a save file, and do the math that way.

There's a squashed-circular structure at the top of Galaxy 8, roughly centred on 180/30. There are about 21 stars in there, including the SecCom at Teteus. A lot of the systems there seem to be pretty poverty-stricken ... how about calling it "Beggar's Loop"?
