Large Cargo hold bug?

Post by Daren »

Hi,

I recently made enough cash to get my first add-on; a large cargo hold for my Cobra MkIII.

In the advice for beginners PDF and in the original games, the large hold took your cargo tonnage from 20 to 35 tons. However, my tonnage went up to 50 after purchasing the large cargo hold. Is this a bug?

It depends!
If you've got standard Oolite, it should only go to 35 tons.
However some OXPs change that value to whatever they think is best.

Have you got any Oxp installed?

By the way, welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat! :)
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and the welcome.

No, I haven't got any OXPs installed, just the main 1.73.4 program for Windows. It also happened under 1.73.3, the first version I played.

Here's the save file if you're interested. Load it up and buy a large cargo hold and you'll see that the cargo limit is 50t.

I just tried it on XP 1.73.4, and went from 20 to 50, and then happily loaded 50 tons of cargo into it.

Looks like a glitch to me.

Ah! The return of the quantum cargo bay?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

No, that's a different one. But a bug nevertheless.

Bug confirmed. Somewhere on buying the bay it adds the 15 tons extra twice. The bay size is not saved but recalculated on loading a saved game. For a loaded commander it is correct. So use the large bay wisely as it only will last from buying until the next reload.

Bug is introduced when the large_cargo bay became also buyable by NPC ships. Both in playerEntity.m as in shipEntity.m the 15 ton extra is added now. Fixed now in trunk.

EDIT: A_C, our messages crossed.

*Raises hand hesitantly*
Ehm... sorry. This seems to be all mine. And the funniest part is that I cannot even remember what I was thinking when I did this. Will restore. In the meantime, enjoy your free cargo space.

Used for carrying radioactives and feline passengers, presumably.
