OK. I just read a "15" as TL in the planetinfo.plist, and as this was the max value I knew for TL, I took it to be without offset. My fault - should have read the documentation.Commander McLane wrote:FYI: Everything in planetinfo.plist (and indeed anywhere else in Oolite) is zero-based.
Don't you tell me how computers run, young man. The systems stacked on my desk run the applications I wrote -- on top of the OS I wrote, so I know a teensy bit about 'puters.Commander McLane wrote:That's just the way computers work (or at least used to work in 1984).
And you should have seen the machine-that-once-was-a-C64 on which I ran Elite (ah, those were the times!)...

Merlin:Look at him.
Merlin: So beautiful.
Merlin: So quick.
<Merlin makes a grab for the fish, who in struggling causes him to fall back into the brook. He looks back at Arthur as he struggles to his bedrgaggled feet>
It's a nice little scene, commenting on the folly of pride.
Merlin: Remember......there's always something cleverer than yourself.
Well, mine was a real mess. I replaced almost everything while designing new hardware - memory extensions, EPROM card, even an adapter to connect a WD harddisk controller. Well, and one sad day he died. My C64 is long since history...DaddyHoggy wrote:As a horder of C64s (I have 3 - operational units) I'd love to see your once-was-a-C64!

I didn't use my Final Cartridge to cheat - I used it to take images of games that took forever to load on cassette to dump an image onto a marginally faster 1541 5.25" floppy. (Of course this didn't work for any of the multi-load games - and I was a big fan of Epyx 'Games' series and Racing Destruction Set (which I did eventually rebuy on floppy)pmw57 wrote:And then there were threeCheeseRedux wrote:And then, of course, they went ahead and made Final Cartridge IISvengali wrote:ok, where is my Final Cartridge... freeze...dump...cheat .-)

Back to Business...
I've got a minor announcement to make:
The first Galaxy Sector is completed. Well, at least uploaded completely. It will need a lot of polishing and refining, but for that I need YOUR feedback.
The starting point is here.
Some issues are already known - like having the Trading Guide regularly recommending firearms as a top business decision despite they are illegal in a wide range of systems...

Treczoks,
It's an impressive work.
I'm actually ok with the recommendation of firearms as the best deal even though they are illegal. The absolutely best deals aren't legal sometimes. It's a game, it a Jameson gets himself into a bit of trouble with the authorities, he'll learn from it.
Here are some issues that come to mind.
How are the planets sorted? If you are looking for a specific one, it would be good for them to be sorted either alphabetically, or geographically.
(update: I just figured out the sort buttons at the top)
The Pulsar Worlds should be described as near Tianve rather than Alaza, since Tianve has the Pulsar.
Small note: the Tortuga Expanse should make some reference to pirates, since Tortuga was a classical den of pirates in the Carribean.
Zaatxese duel pistols should be dueling pistols.
The Traders Almanach should be Almanac, unless you are intentionally going for a 'slang of the future' vibe, which is completely fine and cool.

Fantastic work. I miss the famous planets entries for leesti and lave but otherwise this is great. Maybe you could include the excellent rough guide stories by Disembodied in the fiction sections or make a remark that the planet is featured in the rough guide.

Upsa. Might take some time to fix it, because MANY systems seem to produce duelING pistols due to firearms being such a rewarding trade good.Chrisfs wrote:Zaatxese duel pistols should be dueling pistols.
Honestly, its a typo, but your 'slang of the future' looks like a good enough excuseChrisfs wrote:The Traders Almanach should be Almanac, unless you are intentionally going for a 'slang of the future' vibe, which is completely fine and cool.
Thanks again for the feedback!
