If you want to contribute

Post by treczoks »

If you want to contribute (Like LittleBear, Pagroove and Lestradae did), please include

a) whether it should be in the Fiction or OXP section
b) a title for the subsection (Title of the novel or name of the OXP)
c) a link or name of a wiki entry as a reference, or at least an author

Thank you.

You also should make a vanilla (1.73/1.74 of course) screenshot of the planets for the people that don't download my OXP. But very very neat indeed!
Yep. I thought of asking the community for help on this - once the pages have been installed, we could collect screenshots from various planets or systems for inclusion into the guide. Neither you nor I can be everywhere, but if a lot of people help, we'll soon have some nice pictures of the majority of systems in the wiki.

Do you need screenshots of the Famous Planets yet?
I can look what I have.

This is how the systems stand when Assassins is installed, but if the missions are played then the actions of the player and NPCs change the systems further.
Well, that's OK. The player will see the discrepancy but realise "oh yeah, I changed that when I did X."

I know this whizzy new wiki thing is experimental but I think I may have found an issue.

When I sort by Productivity I get a different list each time I sort:

I haven't tried it with anything else - but it's obvious with something like productivity that they aren't being correlated lowest to highest and not consistantly each time you do it...

Same happens for population too...

(Just in case the fault is at my end: OS = Ubuntu 7.10, Browser = FF3(.0.11) )

 Glad I didn't have any PR0N tabs across the top of those previous images - phew! (not that I do anything of the sort you understand... )

I just tested it on OS X Firefox 3.5, Opera 10 and Safari. Only Firefox is giving consistent results.

I dunno.. it could be argued that Facebook is almost as bad..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Please check your assumptions at the door.

The sort indicator relates to the heading on its left.
What was thought to be the icon for sorting by population is actually the icon for sorting by production.

The spacing makes it somewhat confusing. The headings are sorted as follows:

Heading 1 ... Sort 1 Heading 2 ... Sort 2

There is an issue though with sorting by production, where 7200 < 768 < 7776

That column needs to be sorted numerically instead.

 Yeh, it's obvious when pointed out - the first "sorter" is to the right of the heading not necessarily the closest  "my bad" as they say, but interesting spot by pmw57 on the production sorting...

Productivity (when I select the right sort button!) sorts just fine - no repeat of error seen by pmw57.

(OS Ubuntu 7.10, FF3(0.11) )

As pwm57 already found, you clicked on the wrong button ;-)
I don't know whether I can influence the placement of the button, as I'm using a predefined wiki feature here, but I'll look into it. Another option might be raster lines or bigger horizontal margins between the columns.

I know that's not relevant, but TL sort order is different every time I press the sort button:

Technically there's nothing wrong there, since they are still sorted by TL...
However, one possible fix is that if within the same TL, planets are then sorted by alphabetical order.

I'll have a look at that. Same applies to Economy and Government columns.
