Elite gets another mention on TV

Post by DaddyHoggy »

Nobody else mentioned it so I guess I'm the only one watching BBC4 in the small hours!

A new series - Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe started last night - for those who have access to the BBC iPlayer...

Elite is mentioned as the first "open world" game.

I had to sit through 38 minutes, to get at the gold of a 5 second elite quote?
Cool, apart from the "silver haired t**t" water torture that is.

:D

And yes I can get away with that, the Glaswegian accent does not a man make.

:) Apologies I should have been a bit more specific about when precisely Elite got its moment of glory.

I took it to mean he's glad he's not human.. :D
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

It'll get another mention in Electric Dreams BBC 4 later this week - the trailer included a glimpse of some sort of ancient computer with red function keys...
