Reading that little yarn again, I'd say the old rustbucket got treated to the wrong end of the Thargoid's foul temper after an unexpected misjump.

The Bugs are still mightily po'd after their crushing defeat at Tibecia.

Hmm, I don't see on the map for there to be any possible situation where a mid-jump failure could cause Reidquat to be the closest system.

So, it makes sense that destination is due to a harried demand to get them out of their situation. Perhaps by instructing the navigator, "I don't care where, just do it! Now!"
