Getting rich fast!

Post by Greyman »

Today I downloaded 1.73.1 and I felt like starting a new game. When I go and sell all pylon mounted stuff in order to gain some extra cash something rather odd happens.

After selling the missiles my Cobra Mk3 is suddenly worth lots of Credits. At least this way I could finally afford a Caduceus (and it's a really nice ship with a cool HUD). But I still guess it's not the way this is supposed to work :)

I actually think someone mentioned it somewhere before but after 30 minutes of search I couldn't find the thread anymore. So I guess it won't hurt if I mention it here.

This is the thread you were looking for.. I guess this means the bug isn't quite dead yet.. and that 1.73.1.1 will be out soon..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I know this is the Mac board, but I've just had the same error as Greyman.
That is on a virgin Jameson at Lave. 1.73 on PC. No such thing on my usual save game.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Greyman, you're good!

Somehow, that particular bug was very difficult to track down.
We might have a solution for that soon, though. Stay tuned.

Bug is fixed in trunk. Boy, that was some good timing, just in time for 1.73.1.

Looks like this bug could have been there, totally unnoticed, for quite a while too... Slippery customer, this one... :?

I have an identical value for CobraIII
922337203792291.0 after selling pylon mounted weapons

COULD buy ship Python @ 200,000
COULD NOT buy BeamLaser (don't know why -- Python only had PulseLaser)

No save game available, but I'll try to save before crash.. .. ..

1st attempt (saved game quickly, after selling eqpt - got megaValue ship - but before buying Python: saved game Cr Balance only 170Cr).. .. ..

2nd attempt (saved game quickly, after selling eqpt., getting megaValue ship AND BUYING PYTHON: saved game Cr Balance huge)

It's always the same value for ship after selling pylon weapons. I had not purchased those pylon weapons. The 3 missiles came with the new Jameson CobraIII. If they had never been added to the ship's value (because I'd never bought them), then could that confuse the internal arithmetic (when I sold them)?

But now have 2 save games
one with high value CobraIII (no missiles) & normal cash
one with normal value Python and huge cash (having sold overvalued CobraIII)

What version of Oolite are you using? This bug is reported as fixed in 1.73.2.

I mixed something up there (English is obviously not my mother tongue). Bug Detector is rather fine with me. 8)

The squashing part is for the dev team. :-)
