I've not been on oolite for a while but I am hearing about a new version of it (1.73). Having had a look around I can't find a download anywhere for macs, so where would I find one? (I want to try out OSE)

Not released yet, but can't be too far either 
Diziet Sma has been keeping testers informed on what's going on with his nightly-build-style installers of what is currently in trunk, but this is Windows-only. This is what the discussions you read is mostly about. The features of 1.73 are already well known and are discussed on the board, but making the version official is still pending.
