...flying fortress just flew over my house at an alt. of about 500ft.
Completely blown away - what a rare treat for a Sunday afternoon.

Indeed. Glad you were not its target.

It would be a shame to shoot down such a beautiful plane...

Indeed!
The B-17 was the biggest Airfix model I had hanging from my ceiling when I was a kid - it was in the 1:48 scale section (I was very picky: couldn't mix 1:72, with 1:48 or 1:32 - big no no) - fully articulated guns, undercarriage and propellers. So to see one actually flying (seem them static) was just a childhood dream come true.
The one over my house was green - ala 'Memphis Bell' style.

Something tells me that this thought was not part of the reasoning of German Flak in let's say 1944...

That shore is a purty plane there... Ya know, a modified version wouldn't look too out of place in Oolite..?
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

Good idea. I'd add that ship to my oxp folder.
I hope the gunners don't shoot the tail off, though.

you could have the gunners as turrets! ooh. and have the engine exhaust come out of the engine cowlings sans props... ooh purty.

Haha...WW2 mod for Oolite? All ships replaced with aircraft? Perhaps it will be better to use just various strengths of plasma cannons as guns, and no homing missiles...would be hilarious.
Now...who is gonna model all those aircraft?

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
