Back to the suicide ships...

Post by stanley1100 »

I came across yet another suicide ship today and managed to get a screenshot but no log. How exactly do I upload the image?
Thanks! :)

The method is right, but it might be not the right link for external viewing.

Cheers!
So any ideas why the NPC do not bother turning? I've seen many do it and about 3 not (or if I'm rather uneducated has this been fixed in the trunk version?).

The contents of this thread worked for me under Ubuntu:

Sorry but is it 1.1 or 2.1 i need?

Thanks!

EDIT: Err...problem. Every time I run apt-get I am presented with this wonderful error message:
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
Then I run that and are presented with this:

dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/0084' near line 1:
newline in field name `#padding'
?

I noticed that they do not get a collision warning - even with my Oolite version which comes with increased warning distances because of the kamikaze ships which crash(ed) into me during combat.

That file's content is wrong. It should be safe to delete it, but you will at least need to move it out of the way. (Recent system crash (lockup or kernel panic) or power failure, during or shortly after installing, upgrading or removing packages? That would be enough to cause this due to data not yet having been flushed to disk.)

You probably have other corrupt files. For some files in /var/lib/dpkg, there may be a good backup which you can restore (but see if dpkg complains first); and you'll probably need to reinstall, re-upgrade or re-remove some packages to correct things. You may also have to temporarily remove files for specific packages from /var/lib/dpkg/info – this is where things become interesting

(BTW, large images are not appreciated. They cause need for maximised browser windows and/or scaling and/or horizontal scrolling.)

Please post you Latest.log. I am almost certain that your graphics card/drivers combination does not support the minimum OpenGL specifications required to run Oolite.

1. That is an interesting graphics display. I got a similar effect with Uruntu mkIII & Uruntu mkIV.

2. When exiting a station on a crazy spiralling weaving U-turning & then some more spiralling trajectory,
does anyone else notice that NPC ships exit on a VERY SIMILAR trajectory 2 or 3 planets later?

Naturally when spiral/weave/U-turn/more spiralling you need to be looking backwards..

Perhaps they are trying to copy my advanced piloting techniques? I at once admit that whenever I crash
into a nav. buoy it is during straight line flight.
This is easily achieved by coming out of the space station on afterburners while looking backwards.
It doesn't take very long!

Great screenshot :D

I had the same problem with the graphics on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525 running Windows 7 RC), installing the latest Win7 graphics drivers from the intel website cured the problem (although still have shimmering z-fighting problem!
