The oxp will add the Kirin to your ooniverse, in 3 flavours

The civilian
The Ex-military
The Ops military

The civilian comes with dual tailgater hater plasma turrets, mast plasma turret and hull turret.

Ex military comes with a small army of ship chewing turrets top bottom and aft.

The Ops military you don't get hold of. It has more kit and a fighter escort.

She's a serious trade vehicle, slow but deadly accurate (as accurate as the Dragon or Neo-caduceus). And you have to be very careful trying to park her in a hermitage. She is the final word in space trading balancing offence with defense and a realistic size to cargo capacity.

Practice your manual docking skills if you captain one of these.

It's a very tight fit through the docking port, and the docking computer doesn't have the accuracy or the smarts enough to dock one without crashing.

That said I did manage to land one of these ******* ina hermit the other day. You've got to go slow and rotate until you hit the "sweet" spot.

Fixed! (what did you really expect? I'm an artist. I live in the world of broad brush strokes fulfilling a grand vision. So, some of the fine lines blur a little when you stand 2 inches from the canvas.)

Oh forgot to mention, in with the oxp is the illustrated novella "rise of the kirin" (All authors credited)

Then Kirin is a proper mid range hauler bridging the gap between python and the anaconda. She give a low facing edge, for approach and a turret system that Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel would be proud of.

Download the oxp

buy one.

Fall in love. We're too good to you we really are.

Some good news, Clym.
You know that in 1.72, the autodock sequence almost always ends in a 'press space' disaster for the Kirin class freighters, making manual dock or instadock a necessity.

I've been playing with trunk via Dizzy's installer, and in trunk the docking computer had a brain implant. It's no longer Murphy's Law Incarnate for the Kirin and docks that big gal flawlessly every run. :)

Yay! We've just lept the gate from pretty but flawed, to practically perfect in every way.

I will say if there's one of these in your space then bounty hunting becomes REALLY tricky. The bounty always pick on the kirin and the attack fighters always serve them their ass on a platter.

Love the sport by the way. Handles real nice.

If the missile targeting feature ever gets fixed so that it'll make her turrets shoot at incoming hardheads and those dreaded nuclear torpedoes, then she will be perfect, no doubt. :) Until then, brace for impact and prepare to press space.

When it comes to rogue kirins, my tactic has been to laser the hostile kirin from long range (keeping well out of reach of it's turret batteries) then eliminate it's escort if they still want some.

Thanke. :) I'm commanding a Sport now, it's got all the aces for this bounty killin' lizard. Enough speed to chase down marks, and enough firepower to wipe 'em from the Ooniverse. And plenty of freight room to scoop up the salvage and eject pods. And hey, hauling a big load of furs or computers on a milk run doesn't hurt the bank account.

I see we've been officially annexed into shipyards.

Sweet acceptance.

I'm really enjoying my wind down period with the maps. Still need to look into the bump map issue, but that can wait till the code is core.

Quick update: According to SVN logs, trunk rev. 2273 fixes the missile targeting issue, so now we have obtained epic win perfection, at least in trunk. I'm grabbing the latest of Dizzy's trunk installer now. 8)

I love it when a plan comes together.
