Dragonfly S.T addon ship
*EDITED POST*
Picture of top and side on of my new ship
Stats
Size roughly slightly larger than Adder
Speed 0.455 Cargo 5T expandable to 10T *(now expandable to 7)*
4 missile ports *(Have changed to 2)*
250 energy
4 recharge *(now 2)*
front and aft mountable weapons *(now front only)*
Firefly variant appearing shortly same model but change of texture maybe change the stats (Thinking maybe keep all the same but have a super speed increase 495-525 and reduce cargo to 0)
My question at what price point would you suggest it to sell for in shipyard?
*(Thinking around 350 000)*

No idea about price - but a very pretty little ship - almost uber fast though - so astonishingly expense I would imagine.

As most of the original ships have a speed somewhere in the region of 0.2-0.35 I think its safe to say 0.455 is pretty fast. My preference would be to try to make ships that are super fast have balancing weaknesses, for example limiting them to only pulse lasers, and no shield upgrades, or if those are allowed, to give zero storage, so that some careers are not viable.
Simply adding cost is missing the point. If you want a ferrari, then you cant complain that it doesnt have the storage of a flatbed truck. It wou want a bus to carry hundreds of passengers, you cant expect to fly like a bullet.
There is, of course, a place for ships with high speeds like this one, but it should be tempered with issues. Its a small lightweight ship, so perhaps no fuel scoop, no expanded cargo bay, limited firepower. Limited recharge, coz all the power goes to the engines?
That said, its a free ooniverse, Im sure whatever you decide, some people will love it, and some hate it.
Presumably once it is absorbed into OSE the price will be changed anyway, so maybe you shouldnt worry about that too much.

Hmm thanks for suggestions the 5t cargo bay i would say is needed as it is most likely to be used for pirating either that or as a bounty hunter. Expanded cargo bay i like the option of being able to expand maybe reduce it to expansion of 2-3? Maybe reduce missiles down to 2 as its a small ship and wouldn't have space to store them.
Knocking the recharge rate down or removing shield boosters .. again these things a hunter needs and would spoil point of ship, same with weapons ,although i could maybe make it front fire only.
Let me know what you think.

My feeling is that players, and certainly NPCs only really use front weapons, and so limiting others doesnt really make much odds.
I think less missiles make sense.
Overall, I would say look at the table at http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Ships_(Oolite) and see where you want it to fit. To my mind you are in the territory of a viper, or an Asp Mk2, or even a Mamba. Your ship is generally faster and smaller than similar ships, so I would expect to have less space for add-ons and cargo, and less shielding or energy.
Also, as a small, which is going to be hard to hit, and therefore more powerful than a similar but larger ship. I think you could probably lower the energy, as at that size you will be taking less hits anyway. But its up to you, at the end of the day, itys your ship, if you want it fast and tough, and you think its balanced, stick a heafty price tag on, and send it

Now available download available in signature.
Reduced recharge rate to 2. Ship size is 50ish by 10 by 50ish so you still get hit enough to warrant 250 energy. Firefly variant available in download at much higher price tag, 1 Ton cargo so you can pick up the that escape capsule from defeated pirate ship. 515 speed as result of lower cargo.

Altered model as geometry wasn't quite right, when converted for oolite, was quite noticeable when using custom views. V1.1 available in sig

Game calculated charging has been suggested. This was pretty much the driver for "Realistic Shipyards", to standardise pricing.
It certainly could be done, but there are issues, which I think is why L took it all out into an OXP. RS also includes other changes, such as modifying roles and making most (all?) ships availabile to the player.

Unfortunately i mostly use a netbook and realistic shipyards would probably be too much for the processor with all those ships. Anyone has realistic shipyards and installed my ship, as i would be interested to know at what price point it suggests.

Lestradae's original price calculation formula is on the forum here. I don't know if he's fiddled with it since but it's still a good method of finding out a base price – which you can then adjust a bit to taste if you want for internal ship luxuries and addons (or the lack thereof).
