Newbie questions - Belkin and best eye candy oxps
Hi
sorry for the newbie status, but I've just rediscovered this game after buying the original Elite on Tape for my brothers BBC micro many many years ago
Anyway, the game looks stunning (running it on 46" Bravia screen at 1920*1080p), and plays really well with the logitech bluetooth keyboard I'm using.
I was wondering whether anybody had tried the Belkin Nostromo N52Te gamepad with Oolite. Does it work ok ?
Secondly, can someone recommend the best eye candy for the main game, oxps. I'm running 1.72 with system_redux and the planets/moons look great. Does this OXP affect the space stations/ships as well, or is there a mega pack that improves these
thanks
Mat

Um, I dont know, I think you need to get them individually.
If you do find a pack of them all together (maybe OSE?) then you may find that they are not all the latest versions. Id just get the latest by hand, then you know exactly what you have. Some of them require 1.73, which isnt a released version as yet, but I think most stuff should stiull look pretty good on your version.

If Griff completes a full set of replacement ships for Oolite in the near future, it might just be that you won't be needing an OXP to enjoy them.mattyduk wrote:Is there an all in one install of OXPs by Griff for the Space station and ship graphics or do I have to go and find each one individually ?
Know what I mean?

No, I don't - I'm new here
So the main ones I'd need so far would be
System redux - already installed
Trade Outpost V1.1
any others - I'm just looking on the OXP - Elitewiki. Is there another listing of Griffs work including download links ? I'd really like to get the main ships, cobra, python, viper etc, looking as good as some of the screenshots I've seen.
cheers

Some of Griif's work is only in its fll glory in the forthcoming 1.73 trunk version - but to see some of his work (and our mods) get "Your Ad here" and the Griff Krait.

there's a version of my high-poly cobra III that works with oolite 1.72 here:
http://www.box.net/shared/buguehovmt
the only thing it's missing is the bump map but otherwise it's the same as the full version.
the other 5 or 6 ships i've done in a similar style (ie, copied & pasted the same texture map all over them ) will only work properly with the 'trunk' version of oolite i'm afraid, once the trunk version becomes the released test version i'll make a wiki page with all the links on to make downloading them easier
BTW, If you're after a full set to reworked ships try Simon B's RFC classics, should satisfy any graphic cravings

You can doll up some of the in-game stations with e.g. P.A. Groove's stations. This and a whole bunch of other dockable objects can be downloaded from here.

Ramon's new Anaconda is a beauty (looks for link - fails - I hate this search engine!)
Edit: Found it via google (but don't put "ramon anaconda" in the image search... )
