Storing joystick configuration

Post by Diziet Sma »

There's one thing I've discovered when I started getting more familiar with Oolite's innards, that I found a touch unusual, particularly given the usual approach this game takes to configuration.

I don't seem to be able to locate where (or how) Oolite saves its joystick-mapping...

Maybe (read: probably) it's just me, but I've been poking around in various folders for a while now, and I've taken a not-very-serious look around the source in a few likely places to see if I could find an answer to this question, but with zero success...

which I guess leads to my other question:-

How is it that this seems to be the only configurable item in Oolite that isn't governed by a plist?
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Joystick settings are stored in the GNUstep preferences system. Conveniently, this shiny new wiki page explains how to edit it.

wow.. talk about 'ask and ye shall receive'.. only made yesterday.. how cool is that?

Thanks Ahruman!

Now I won't have to re-program my joystick every time I change to a new trunk build. :D
