From memory on overdrive systems, I think some vehicles had overdrive available on more than one gear? I might be talking nonsense and I will follow the wiki link in a second, but Im sure I remember something about overdrive on more than one gear on some vehicles...gorans wrote:4 Speed Manual + D or J-type Laycock OverdriveDaddyHoggy wrote:Sounds like what we'd call an "Overdrive" - the MGB had a four speed stick shift but if you pushed a little button on the top of the stick in 4th you'd get "Overdrive" - effectively but not exactly a 5th gear.gorans wrote:Now I have to fight with my english again, have mercy...
Hunter had 4 speeds on a gearshift and a regular clutch. Besides that, it had small lever on a wheel, just behind the wipers control handle, that You can tilt up or down. When in 4th gear, tilted it up and (without the clutch) You are in 5th gear. Tilt down - back in 4th. You got the point.

That's it I suppose. I remember that I could go from 4th to 3rd gear using the lever, but it seems that my memory is failing... should make backup...
