Display Problem or What

Post by Hemlock »

I recently hopped into a Mosquito Trader. Kinda nice with more cargo room and a lot more room for my personal stuff...not to mention the very becoming paint job...which brings me to my query...

Since hopping into the said Mosquito, I cannot view the craft in flight (Toggle Key v). I actually liked to look around when docking in strange places....

Any ideas?

I thought the views needed to be defined in the ship data? That was certainly true in older versions of Oolite - don't play it often enough to recall if this is the case for newest versions.

Not all player ships have external views (it's a key in the ships shipdata.plist entry). The mosquito trader is one such ship where the author hasn't written them in.

But if you desperately want them they can be added in by editting the shipdata.plist and copying in those from a suitable craft (e.g. the Cobra III Player). Just make sure you use a source-file that's in the same format as the one for the Mosquito (XML or opensource).

If it sounds like I'm talking gobbledegook let me know and I'll hack one together for you (right now's not convenient as I'm sat at the airport waiting for a plane).

Sounds like the ship doesn't have custom views enabled. You could find a built-in ship of about the same size, find the external views data in the shipdata.plist, and copy and paste it into the Mosquito. There's some stuff about custom views on the wiki here.

Thanks much for prompt replies.

I would appreciate a hack...since I am computer illiterate.....but anyway....

Enjoy your flight :D

I'll try and hack something together over the weekend for you.

Do you have it as part of the Realistic Shipyards OXP, or as its original individual OXP (marett_vol1.oxp)?

I thank you. I have it as part of the marett oxp...sadly the RS oxp uses too much of my meager resources.

Ok, you can download a tweaked version here.

I've added in the external view positions from the Outrider as it's about the same size I think. Let me know if it works for you, or if things need more adjustment.

Hi Thargoid,

Thanks for sorting this out. The Mosquito Trader was the first craft I ever did and at the time external views weren't even an option!

And thanks Hemlock for flying the ship, you're the first person I know who has, yippee.

Thanks Thargoid.....I really appreciate your help :D

And Ramon...thank you too...It's a great ship and a pretty good upgrade from the Cobra....

Now all we need is an updated entry in the Ship Wiki....
