Or the space equivilent.
the ability to rent a fighter for a particular mission, or just for fun, then go back & get your ship back with all its equipment intact.
or rent a freighter for a large haulage contract
etc.
could maybe be tied in with a SIRF shipyard?
maybe a 'coourtecy ship' while yours is being serviced or upgraded, from one of the other stations other than the main. would give them a bit more purpose.
maybe theft of a rental ship could get passed over to Black Monks gunships for immediate return therof, same as a debt.
Lots of maybe's. any thoughts?
I did think of having a go (would need much help!), but summers get busy for me, & I don't think i'd have the time.
I cannot for the life of me think of a famous van rental company with an 'O' (oo) in it.
sports car/van/lorry rentals

I think this (or similar) has come up before - currently "you" are your "ship" - I don't think anybody came up with an OXP way of allowing you to change ships - that was it - the discussion started up when somebody suggested rich players could own a "garage" with lots of ships in it and they could pick and choose.
I think it was decided this would require a rewrite of the main game engine...

I came up with an idea how a ship pack could be scripted in - you would have more than one ship and could change around between your ships at stations.
But not via actually changing. It would involve using "missions" - and specially scripted ships that appeared in any shipyard TL 0+ with a cost of 0 Cr under the condition that a certain "mission" was on, giving you the impression that you could change between ships that you owned.
I'm not going to do it - have some stalling of work motivation with OSE already. If someone else did something like that, I'd incorporate it into the SIRFYards if this is wished for - idea sounds good.
Feel free to nick the idea anytime.
