Trumbles - tribbles

Post by Squeek »

Did anyone not buy a trumble in oolite because of prior knowledge of tribbles in star trek?`

Did anyone come to the conclusion, immediately upon seeing the name and adorable-fluffy-factor, that it would be similar?

They are absolutely adorable, though.

Really? I think they always look so sad...wish there would also be a "happy trumble" image...

Elite already called them trumbles, and yes, it was instantly clear where the idea came from ;) However, in Elite, they didn't eat that much, but replicate much more and delivered nice, valuable furs when fried...

Sad?

...Darn it! I saw it and now I can't un-see it.

Bu they're still adorable.

Oh, and I bought one. Now I have two. They are named Mr. Fiddlesticks 1, and Mr. Fiddlesticks 2.

Well... Yeah....

Also, I fly an adder. How many Mr. Fiddlesticks' will there be?

I mean, before the oxygen runs out?

Edit: Also, I have begun feeding them. By buying two tons of food at a time.

Don't forget the buns and BBQ sauce. You'll need it a lot sooner than you think.

...You can't eat it once you name it.

I mean, you could KILL it when it pisses you off.

To quote 'Old trumbler':

"It's my trumble, ma. I'll do it."

I didnt realise they were based on something from star trek but my brother let me a vhs (!) copy of the trouble with tribbles to watch... v funny.

i liked my trumble to begin with, but it started eating all my food and when it ate a guest .... scooped escape pod... that was the final straw1!!

You'd like "Trials and Tribble-ations" (DS9) too, then…

Now, I went behind the sun and killed them, because they were my trumbles, and I did it.

I can't think of any more "old yeller" references that apply to trumbles...

definitely! and what about "more tribbles, more troubles" (from the animated series)? i've seen that one only once or twice, and that was AGES ago, but i remember a scene where bones injects a BIG tribble with something, and suddenly there are LOADS of small ones.

also, "relics" (TNG) comes to mind. no tribbles in this one but scotty and the bridge of the original enterprise ("no bloody A, B, C or D!")

Sadly I turned them down in oolite because I had dealings with trumbles in the original elite (well elite plus on the PC actually my original elite on the tatung einstein had no trumbles mission), I ended up having to ditch a pilot because I had no idea how to get rid of them... That was before the days of the internet. Im pretty sure I saw the tribble episode after meeting the trumbles in elite...

Ive notice in the save game file for oolite it says something like trumbles - not now so I dont know if that means I will naturally get another opportunity or if I would have to edit the save game to regain the chance to aquire them.

Oh, you'll get the chance again, don't worry. Depending on what OXPs you install, you might get several chances!
