OXP's located at 3rd party file hosting sites
I have tried to download OXP's listed on Elite Wiki but been re-directed to some other location, e.g. MediaFire.
Nothing happens. They have a FAQ section, which gives information on how to down a file e.g. Hot Rods OXP
"simply do this" they spout "then simply click on 'commence download' button"
Doing "this" as directed causes Nothing to happen.
There is no such button (as mentioned); there are no buttons at all.
Their instructions might as well read "$&#? fizzlesputz ¿*£"
Is there any reason why some OXP's are readily available at the click of a button e.g. Far Star OXP (downloaded easily today) and some are located on Betelgeuse (and can't be downloaded at all)?
Just curious..

No reason whatsoever! Which ones are you having trouble with? Do let us know, and hopefully a replacement link should be up in no time at all!
Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

That is most helpful: thanks!
The ones I tried yesterday are
-> Free Trade Zone (FTZv0.13.zip @ MediaFire)
-> Hotrods (replacing Custom Paint Job) (Hotrods0.52c.zip @ MediaFire)
Most of these 3rd party data-trumbles seem to want visitors to log-in, without explicitly saying so (which I'm not going to do because I don't have an account with them & don't want one), but in any event the instructions they provide are meaningless -- especially when compared with the Wiki page where "you want this OXP, sir?" leads immediately to its being uploaded to me, and inclusion in my AddOns file..easy!
There are other OXP's that link to 3rd party sites. I just don't bother with them, but on this occasion I persisted with their procedure (coz the OXP sounded good) so if a regularised link via Wiki is possible, that'd be great

Hi ZZ. The wiki's currently non-editable but in the meantime you can get hold of the Free Trade Zone OXP from here:

Apologies for the Mediafire problems -- I've transferred all my hosted files over to the much friendlier and advert-free box.net. I'll update the wiki links when it's back up and running at full steam!

Box has some nice features, like the counters and the simplicity of being able to update files on the same download URL.

It's more convenient than the webspace I get from my ISP where my OXPs used to reside. Plus of late it's a damn sight more reliable in terms of uptime.

...yes, they do like their javascript at box.com!
Anyway, Hotrods version 0.52d (!) can be downloaded from here:

And there should be an upgrade coming in the next few weeks ( finally bumping the version number to 0.53).

Yeh, I like box but it never seems to work properly in FF under linux even with all the javascript plug-ins allegedly installed.Kaks wrote:...yes, they do like their javascript at box.com!
