It's called "Scanner Targeting Enhancement" and only needs to be bought, it comes to play once you target something!stanley1100 wrote:I don't actually like them! More help: I need to know what the scanner encancment is called and how to activate it. Thanks!
There's also a "target reticle sensitive" oxp which does enhance the STE by upgrading it even further! Of course it requires the STE to be installed in the first place.

As Sceet says; it is buyable from Oolite itself. Sometimes at level 11 stations and always at stations of tech level 12 or higher.stanley1100 wrote:I don't actually like them! More help: I need to know what the scanner encancment is called and how to activate it. Thanks!

Welcome Gerbil707!
Disable? How/why/duration?
In an IT style Q&A (tongue in cheek of course):
Q: How do I stop my guns from firing?
A: Don't press the fire button
Q: My guns accidentally go off when I don't want them to. Why?
A: Move your podgy fingers away from the region of the fire button, you're obviously nervous.
Q: I've done the above but occasionally my guns still go off - what should I do?
A: Sell all your guns - you'll be quite safe from accidental itchy-trigger finger.
Seriously though - I think lasers like other equipment can be "damaged" - you could write a small oxp that "damages" your lasers - so they can't fire...

Oolite Life is now revealed hereSelezen wrote:Apparently I was having a DaddyHoggy moment.
I don't think lasers can be damaged (no weaponry can, nor the large cargo bay).
If you want to "disable" them, then either
If you want to "disable" them, then either
- Redefine the fire key to be something unsuitable like "A" rather than "a" (so you have to hold down shift as well to fire).
- Don't buy rear/left/right lasers (which won't help foreward view).
- Replace the foreward laser with a Thargoid Laser (which don't work, so you're safe from hitting anything at all).
- Swap your ship for an Oo-Hauler (it can't be equipped with guns).
- Write your own ship OXP without any guns fitted, or modify an existing one likewise (a variant on the Oo-Hauler idea).

I must say, it's very welcoming here isn't it? Well, it wasn't for me, it was so my brother could find out how to not fire his guns when pressing 'w' or 's' so it's nothing to do with my podgy fingers, thank you! Anyway, on a much lighter note, it seems I cannot reach Lave without being attacked or taken down by the police, even though I am stated as 'clean', any ideas? Thanks!

Have you changed the keymapping? If not - any oxps installed?Gerbil707 wrote:I must say, it's very welcoming here isn't it? Not sure why the police would be attacking you, if you're Clean. That sounds like some problem with an AI. What version of the game do you have and what OXPs are you running?Gerbil707 wrote:I must say, it's very welcoming here isn't it? Well, I've looked at the info bit on elitewiki, or whatever it is, and it seems that I might have attacked a space hermit by accident I've got the older version, not sure what the number is... anyhow, thanks for the help! Not sure why the police would be attacking you, if you're Clean.
