If you are searching for the newest Oolite release, it's accessible via the Oolite homepage "Test Releases and Source Code" which links here:stanley1100 wrote:Can anyone reccomend where to download the new version from and which version?
Thanks again!

It's really not that "test" but a pretty good release!
As for the OXPs, the problem is that the Wiki was read-only for such a long time that for several OXPs the newest release can be found on the according forum threads.
I especially can recommend Random Hits (from the forum thread) and Galactic Navy (from the Wiki) if you are looking for some ongoing-shooting fun, Random Hits also has really funny mission descriptions and different difficulty levels, thus it should be great to begin with!

The update is a very tiny modification program that converts the previous test release installer into the newest, thus causing less internet traffic.stanley1100 wrote:Sorry to ask again but I have no idea wether to get the update or not!
However, since you've got a really old version, you should go for the full version. For windows that is
Code: Select all
Oolite-1.72.2-test.exe 20329734 1681 i386 .exe (32-bit Windows)
Code: Select all
oolite-1.72.2.1-test-mac-full.zip 19886199 58 Other .zip
Code: Select all
oolite-1.72.2.x86.v2.package 22145706 452 i386 Other

I only can speak for the mac but I assume it applies for all: all updaters add the changes since version 1.65, so you only need the full version for older oolites. For 1.65 or newer the updaters should be enough.Screet wrote:However, since you've got a really old version, you should go for the full version.
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions

Now I've got a little problem with understanding...are you talking where to put those things from my message? They are copy&paste from the entries at the berlios link I did post earlier: http://developer.berlios.de/project/sho ... up_id=3577stanley1100 wrote:Where do I put the code?! Sorry I'm quite new to all this!
It did quote the full entries to make it easier to find them on that page.
Sorry that I didn't link the actual files, if that was confusing you. I just use the code marker quite often to allow easier visibility of some things like log excerpts and such.

If you use different installation directories for both versions, you need to copy the save file.stanley1100 wrote:Right, I have version 1.72.2 but cannot restore my old commander. Help?!
If you use Vista, it can be that your save file is in the hidden VirtualStore of your user account. In that case, it's not in the oolite installation directory but in something like
Code: Select all
C:\Users\Screet\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite-saves

I could be doing something wrong but when I try to get up the textured planets (pause, press t, unpause?) after docking they still aren't there. Any OXP's I need? And I have been admiring Griff's work and would like to know how to get his station and ship textures.
Thanks again!

Try famous planets and/or system redux for planet textures!stanley1100 wrote:I could be doing something wrong but when I try to get up the textured planets (pause, press t, unpause?) after docking they still aren't there. Concerning the constore, there's a thread which recently had a nice beta up...but then you don't get the standard station but one with MANY ads

The Griff Krait and Trade Outpost are on the Wikki. Random Hits and Assassins (also on the Wikki) contain a lot of Griff's and Ramon's ships and Stations. PA Grove Stations (on the Wikki) also contains stations by Griff and PA Groove. First port of call should be the Wikki OXP Page. For other Griff stuff you'll need to do a search of the boards.
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

...and I just had the same experience after exiting witchspace: A fleet of Navy Ships crashing themselves at full speed into the Ad which replaced the W buoy! I was too astonished to hit shift H in timestanley1100 wrote:I am a new pilot in Oolite and within an hour of playing the game I noticed flashes on the far horizon (which I now know are explosions). I watched as a Cobra Mk1 came up to the buoy at maximum speed and crashed into it, another one following.
