Nice!
The problem I have with GIMP is the version I use under 98SE, under XP and under Ubuntu are all slightly different - so I go to (for example) "paste as brush" location in one version and find it isn't there - and then I have to try and remember where it is in the version I'm currently using!

I'm used to double-clicking on a Layer and accessing the bevel / shadow / inner glow (et cetera) options that way. It's just a case of getting used to the drop-down options instead.DaddyHoggy wrote:Nice!

Plus the fact that the keyboard shortcuts use Control, just like a PC (with Macs, it's the Apple key and C to copy, Apple + V to paste and so on). I'm also used to the Photoshop shortcuts (A is select all, and D is Deselect... it does something else in GIMP).
Anyhow, this is Zenit Arcadia finished...

Not many left now, folks, and we can have an *actual* racing OXP with all the famous teams!

Go back to the very first posting on this thread - the Cap. is pretty good at keeping the teams up to date.DeepSpace wrote:Hi there. Can I put a design in? Whats the rules and whats left to add?
I've bagged but haven't finished Magma Racing - anything that hasn't got a name next to it in the list is still available to be skinned - plus there's a link to the relevant wiki page(s). Look forward to seeing your efforts!

Of course you can, DS, and welcome! The rules are ludicrously simple (just like me ). Basically, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to choose a team from page 1 and create a colour scheme for each ship in it's entry. You can use any combination of colours you want, as long as it is characteristically LOUD AND VISUALLY OFFENSIVE, like most racing colour schemes. The only provisos are that you use the teams' characteristic colour combinations (yes, okay, I don't know what Ayr Thistle's scheme is either) and their team number. You can include the team name and any sponsors (best gleaned raw and bleeding from the YAH or Constore threads), although I would recommend checking out previous entries just in case some overzealous marketing exec makes the mistake of spending millions of ₢ sponsoring rival teams. You can, if you want (not that anyone has yet been mad enough to try), make up some support ships using some of the big hauler types (Anacondas, Boas, Pythons, BCCs or PCCs for example) with the same colour schemes.DeepSpace wrote:Hi there. Your imagination is the only barrier!
The teams that haven't been skinned yet are:
2) Ayr Thistle
Colours:Thistle
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 73
3) Club Racing LeBoeuf
Colours: Light Blue
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 44
6) Festus Flyers
Colours: Blue, Red
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 27
7) Hatchling Racing
Colours: Violet, Red
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 21
11) Merthyr Tydfil
Colours: Red, Green, White
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 53
13) Quasar Sports
Colours: Blue, Violet
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 24
15) Schilierenzauer
Colours: Silver, White
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 22
23) Zorg Racing
Colours: British Racing Green
Ships: Krait, Mamba, Sidewinder
Number: 7
(Note: Zorg Racing is known to have a Sidewinder colour scheme, but I don't know where this skin is, so I guess a new season scheme isn't out of the ordinary)
DH has 'bagsied' Magma Racing and gogz69 has his thumb dipped in pale blue and red paint for Team Xaosaspor. So, if you are interested, by all means sign up as Graphic Design Manager for one of the above teams, secure your sponsors and get your team's livery out into the general press!

You can have as many as you can feasibly fit on the hull, though considering the speed of the ships and the size of the courses, larger ads = better chance they'll get seen.DeepSpace wrote:Hey cool. Well in that case I'll have a crack at Quasar Sports for a start if thats ok..
Hmmm Deepspace Quasars...
Is there a limit on Sponsors? is it generally 2-ish?

Still no access to a working Oolite PC - so I don't know what this looks like in the flesh.
If anybody can confirm that it's OK - then I'll skin the krait and sidewinder asap.

Why thank ye! Problem is - I don't know what it looks like on a ship in the game - I'm happy with the texture (praise be GIMP and it's fu magic) - but if it doesn't look good in the game...
Must get my overheating main PC sorted out...

Inspired by the Captain's kind words of encouragement and with a 1yr old who isn't playing me up too much - I had chance to do this - there may be a few mistakes I didn't have much time between nappy changes ((c) RL(tm))
Hope it's ok (in game that is)
Edit: Just noticed a thin red line at a slightly different colour red to the main body in my krait design - I can only see it on my new shiny work LCD - not my my CRT at home nor on my home laptop screen.... D'oh! (and therefore I can't really do anything about it because I can't see it on the machines I'm working on! Let's call it a feature! )

Little one has gone shopping with mum for half an hour ((c) RL(tm)), so I've had a quick little play.
I'm really starting to like GIMP, a lot!

Had an idea for Team No.7 - Hatchling Racing (#21) - although since my car (RL(tm) warning) has died I'm a bit swamped at the moment so textures may not appear for a little while...
(and if it hasn't appeared by March 23rd it won't appear until early April as I'm going on a conference to South Africa and as far as I know I won't have any Internet access! )
