An AMS is a handy piece of kit for dealing with hardhead class missiles and torpedoes, though it doesn't nail them all. Thusly an AMS is more a supplement rather than a replacement for evasion tactics and other countermeasures.

Deliberately so, I'm as little of a fan of uber weaponry and defenses as I am of uber ships...

Agreed.
Uber skills count for far more than relying on uber ships and uber bombs ever will. Those that rely too much on uber bombs will soon find their uber ship shot into a big cloud of uber debris when their uber warhead supply runs out.
If they run across a pilot with superior laser-fu, then they're screwed anyway regardless of how many cascade warheads they have.

I recently defeated a Random Hits Level 3 victim, he was flying an Imperial Courier. Typical ubership, right? It's pilots think it can withstand any attack? HA!! I cut that tin can to pieces with one hardhead and mil laser bursts, and all he did was try to run away.

*cough cough* I'll see you in Lave for a duel... *cough cough*
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

There are lots of 'uber-ships' that as NPCs can be dismantled with relative ease. I have on several occasions carved up ICs, UberSuperCobras and Tigers with the 'Dubious Profit's' forward mili-laser.
I did it for the pleasure of hearing the indignant shrieks that echoed across the wide-band comms channel as several hundred-thousand Credits worth of damage was inflicted on the ass of said 'uberships'.

I'll shoot down your python while I'm at it. I'll duel both of you at Lave... If you win, you can try to kill each other. . .

If we gun you down, we'd split the Bounty and buy drinks at the local Seedy Space Bar.... ;)

Hah! Listen to this kid boast! Good Giles, it's too much a laugh!

@Wacky,
The Captain is absolutely right. We're two experienced spacers who've been flying a long time and know all the tricks. You'd be outmached, kiddo, and we'd make it look easy.
And as the Cat said, we'd share the bounty on your pirate ass over a couple of pints of ale, and have a laugh at yet another inexperienced jameson biting off more than he can chew.
Give it up, kid. Grow a brain and maybe you'll survive long enough to be one of us legends, 'k?

What bounty?

The bounty you'll earn for opening up on two 'Clean' rated pilots....

I'll do it out of sight...
And I'm sure that you, Hesperus, don't have a clean rating.
So here's what will happen: I'll lead you guys off-lane, then start blasting Hesperus up. I'll then drop a police beacon. They'll arrive, and see Wyvern lighting up on an innocent Imperial Courier, the Artemis, who happens to have a very good rating with GalCop. They ask why, I'll radio in and say I started shooting at Hesperus - who, as they can read off his flying wreck of ship's IFF transmitter, has a "exterminate on sight" rating with GalCop, about 2000cr worth of bounty - and his pirate buddy started shooting at me. Now, who will they believe: A weak Dragon pilot or a ship that has a missile on board easily capable of destroying a Behemoth, or them?

 Good luck.

Yeah... this is where "multiplayer oolite" happens - on the boards. Whoever is more clever with their story wins.

When the Galcops arrive, there won't be any Artemis, only a badly damaged Python and an unscathed Dragon.
This is because while you are concentrating on toasting my ar...mour plating, Wyvern will be cooking your iron ass with concentrated mili-laser fire. Added to that, I'll pop both of my Trumble missiles for you to play with, while pulling 'Crazy Ivan's' like my Credit account depended on it. After Wyvern's cooked your shields and energy banks, you'll be too busy running from him to attempt to finish me off, at which point, I'll sit back and mili-laser you while Wyvern runs you down.
