Perhaps i can hire her to put a scare into the What Ship paparazzi that was tailing me while I was test-flying the Xarik. What part of 'don't crowd an experimental craft in test flight' do they fail to understand?
Here's the one pic I managed to recover.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:
ASUS Prime X370-A
Ryzen 5 1500X
16GB DDR4 3200MHZ
128GB NVMe M.2 SSD (Boot drive)
1TB Hybrid HDD (For software and games)
EVGA GTX-1070 SC
1080P Samsung large screen monitor
Very "organic" looking - in the vein of "Tinman" from ST for some reason?!? - It feels like the wings should be flapping majestically ala Starglider or an old earth Manta Ray...
Is there any chance you might have a higher resolution version of that screenshot saved away on your computer? I'd really like to turn it into my wallpaper, but my monitor is at 1680x1050 resolution...
I have uploaded a 1680x1050 trimmed horizontally image here (alternative download here), but it is somewhat pixelated due to the lower resolution of the original.
This is what my mind told me to see when I played Elite on the C64...
I've got myself a new wallpaper, thanks a_c.
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again...

The shape is actually inspired by modern and concept aircraft; a bit of F-22, a bit of Eurofighter, a bit of lifting-body concepts, a bit of Delta Clipper concepts, all rolled into a complex model inching close to Oolite's poly limit.
Throw in some texturing tricks, some shading tricks, the <smooth> key, and ta-daa.
BTW, those glowing yellow markings (shader glow trick) supposed to be running lights, and should be more amber in color. I may redo them for a more desired effect...or do a completely different glow layer.

Really like the red flashing actually, looks smart.
She seems like she needs something on her back to me though, maybe just by texture or some pylons?
My first thought was that she'd look cool with a sort of submarine tower but that's kind of against what you're wanting to achieve with it from what you've said so far.
Another shot, of a vice officer helpfully showing off the top profile, the diamond wings, the improved running lights, and the specular effect. Think twice before snuggling narcotics and slaves; these hard-bitten officers fly well equipped, modified spaceplanes, with most of the cargo hold converted to injector fuel storage.

Thanks for that! Also, would it be a big bother to upload also the original uncropped image (I've got more computers with different resolutions...)?
Uh, if only we already had v1.73 to play with, including a full set of Griff's ships etc. I'd be forced to write a new review of Oolite for HG...

The original uncropped image is already uploaded and available in this very thread. It's the original 800x600 picture. I took those screens while running in a window and the higher resolution one was image manipulation. If you want, you can let me know what res you need and I can upload as required.

Ah, ok, I was hoping that your originals might have been bigger and the 800x600 version was a resized version. I'll play around with these to get a BG for my netbook!
But, thanks for the beautiful photography! Please, go find more such views to capture!

On a different note, I really like how the shaders are generating random paintjobs on the Cobras. It creates a very nice variety and sometimes even funny encounters.
This is a pretty normal Cobra:
And this is a Barbie Cobra:
@Griff
Stunning, just stunning.
How did you get al those different colours. Did you play with colour balances?

It will be an oxp that you can download and add to Oolite if you wish, ....., there's a version of this cobra that works with any version of Oolite from v1.71 and up here:
If it helps, I didn't get this problem.
I'm running Windows XP
V1.72.2
Don't know if this is implemented in this release but I didn't get any transfers/colour changes, just the original military green.
