SlowPath?!?

Post by Screet »

Hi,

I'm sure everyone knows lines like these:

Code: Select all

[shipRegistry.selection.profile]: Hit slow path in ship selection for role "interceptor", having selected ship "comviper". Now 100 of 1736 on slow path (5.760369%).
What does it mean? Is this some sort of problem to report to someone?

The wiki doesn't know about it.

Maybe we don't only need a manual for the game, but also a manual for debugging (or writing) oxps?

Screet, very happy as he managed to get his installation pretty stable (one crash in a few days even during immense battles)

That would be a damn good idea for those of us who did not grow up scripting 8)

It is not even a warning. Not everything mentioned in the log is something bad and this particular message is well known as it has been in several threads in the past (since the release of 1.72)

When you have a ship with a condition in the shipdata (systemgoverment greater than or galaxynumber equal ect) every time the populator cut the appearance of that ship due to those conditions you get that message in the log. For example if you have commies when you enter a non communist system and the populator adds police it forbids a people's police viper to appear.

As you understand is totally harmless and maybe it would be nice for this to be removed from the log as it confuses people.

Basically, I’ve been using people’s confused questions about this message to gather distributed statistics.

The message will be suppressed in 1.73.

No, about slow path ratios. 5.760369% is quite reasonable.

I just did add Simons package and did let the model show run...then the stats on slow path are slightly higher:

Code: Select all

[shipRegistry.selection.profile]: Hit slow path in ship selection for role "escort", having selected ship "whitetail". Now 30 of 326 on slow path (9.202454%).
