Serenity (spoilers)

Post by FSOneblin »

So, last night, After watching the 14 episodes of firefly, I watched serenity, and it was fantastic!! It was about what happened after firefly, about 8 months after it. the plat, as wikipedia put it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_(2005_film)#Plot, now it was great, but not firefly. what I liked about firefly, is that it was about normal people, not too involved with the Government, but not in sernity, it just was not firefly. Firefly has no space battles, most battles only had bullet guns (Because, were they were, Laser guns were too expensive) not big space battles. It was just not firefly!

Serenity was written for an audience that may not have seen Firefly. I love Firefly, I love Serenity, but they are separate entities, two things that just happen to share a common cast list (and that includes Serenity herself).

I think if you've seen Firefly, you must see Serenity, but if you've just seen the movie, you do not necessarily have to see the series, in fact I have friends who are in exactly that position.

Somebody is making an oxp ship Firefly. I watched serenity & firefly - both great, but def. different.
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

An oxp ship termed Firefly already exists, it's in RS and was inherited by another oxp which's name I forgot

Don't know if it is from the mentioned series, though.

Different ship. Entirely.

I bit torrented the 14 episodes after someone suggested it was an interesting sci fi series. (It never screened here in nz), and enjoyed them alot. Watched them in bed on my ee901 streamed from my pc.

Saved the serenity DVD as a Boxing day treat as I worked night shifts over the week leading to xmas.
.
Sorry to say I was dissappointed. It just didn't flow well for me. OK learnt about the reapers etc but felt this wasn't an interesting or twisted enough reason for hunting down River/Simon. The tv series will be watched again but Serenity dvd will disappear to the dark recesses of the tv cabinet.

And a poke in the eye to the anti torrent critics. Without it I wouldn't have bought either firefly or serinity on dvd. So my torenting trial resulting in more sales from me....

Why not?

Hell, I got torrents of them when someone suggested the series to me.... I later bought the complete series, and two versions of the Serenity movie.

You guys really appear to be making assumptions about me that are clearly not true....

I also liked both the series and the film, but I do admit that the series was better. If only it had continued for longer than the 14 episodes...

Waiting for the blu-ray release to get a bit more affordable, before I invest in it... (or I'll just purchase the series from the US, where it's fraction of the price it is in UK).

I'm making assumptions for reasons I will only publish in an os wars thread... :P
