Animated ships?

Post by wackyman465 »

I've said this before, but what is we had the ability to have opening cargo doors/missile bays/other? We already have moving subentities (IC engines, condor rings), what if we could have others? You could script the cargo to come out the door, and have it open when you used the eject cargo key... Just an idea.
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

Not before the next stable release. (Actually, you can animate a ship using vertex shaders, but it’s fiddly and limited. Griff’s done cannons with recoil this way in a couple of OXPs.)

So you say this will be available in the next stable release, which will be when?
(A "stable version" of 1.70, or 1.73?)

No, he does not say in the next stable version, he says "not before next stable".

I expect this means it isnt likely to be implemented any time soon.

Not before the next stable version = in next stable version or later - not sooner.

I noticed that he did not call it mythical anymore...is there something upcoming or did he not want to destroy all hopes?

Screet, believing that oolite already is a hell lot of fun!

By “Not before next stable”, I mean I don’t intend to start working on it now.

I also don’t expect to start working on it ever.

As for the mythicality of the next stable release, I’m hoping to have it ready this summer. There’s a (moderately optimistic) schedule hidden in some thread somewhere.
