thargoid laser
i have fitted one to my ship but it fires but douse not appear to damage the ship it hits - how do you increase the power of the laser?
They don't work properly, and shouldn't really be available to the player. It's only due to Realistic Shipyards that their tech level is made low enough to be purchased in certain places, and as they're supposed to be NPC weapons the relevant code to make them work is lacking.
So other than the novelty value, they're useless for the player ship. In the new replacement for RS OXP that Lestradae is now finishing off, they're back to tech level 99 I believe.

Thargoid is correct. I attempted to make the Thargoid Laser work for players under certain circumstances, but this isn't supported by the core game, and so the successor of RS - Oolite Shipyards Extension - is going to have no Thargoid Laser for players.
