Random# error with 1.71

Post by Aldarion »

Hi all, and thanks to the authors for the great game. I've been playing 1.65 and enjoyed it very much but decided to upgrade to see the new graphics and try out some of the OXPs. The trouble is 1.71.2 just spits out an error and quits.

I'm running Ubuntu Dapper (6.something or other:). I installed 1.65 with the autopackage and everything worked fine. I tried installing 1.71.2 the same way but all I get is this error when I try to run it.

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/oolite: line 43: 21406 Floating point exception./oolite
I looked through posts on the forum and got the idea that the problem was that 1.65 was somehow messing up my 1.71.2 install, so I got rid of every file I could find with (Oo)lite in the name, and reinstalled 1.71.. Unfortunatly, I get the same error when I try to start the game. Oh yeah, I unistalled 1.65 before I went on the hunt and delete of individual files, and the number in the error message (21406) is different each time I attempt to start the game.

If anyone can help me get the game going again I would appreciate it very much.

Well, I don't play Oolite on linux, but welcome to the forums, Durnik!
I shot him back first. That is to say, I read his mind and fired before he would have fired on me. No, sir, he wasn't a fugitive.

We didn't get the name "friendliest boards this side of reidquat" (sp?) for nothing!
