Hi guys,
This is just to let you know that since I started hosting the Generation Ship OXP (genship.oxp) in med-November of '07, it has had over 970 downloads.
That's pretty good for rarely occuring ships like that.

Hmmmm....I did reply yesterday, but obviously I was too sleepy to ensure that the reply got properly saved (sometimes I need to hit submit more than once as submit only makes the browser jump to the top of the "preview" version).Captain Hesperus wrote:That's pretty good for rarely occuring ships like that.
What I wanted to say: Since installing the package, I have only been intercepted two times in witchspace by the thargoids. Both times, my ship was aligned with a generation ship! Pretty impressive sight, though I think the super-dredger I once saw was even much bigger. I wish I would have met them in a time of peace, as they complained being unarmed civilian vessels as the thargoids attacked them - and then they did jump away, before I got a good look at them.
I recently got a newsbrief about seeing one of the missing three generation ships at the outmost corner of G5...I went there, but found nothing?!? However, I once saw one in Witchspace, the other time two together, which makes all missing three ships - and the big question would be how those ships managed to get into Witchspace and how they managed to jump away, as I thought they should not be capable of such stuff?!?
Anyway....impressive sight, as I said...and still hope to see one without attackers around!

Generation ships ...
No, don't worry. That doesn't make any kind of sense, neither in-game nor gameplay-wise.
Except perhaps a player version that also can't jump and you have to spend a RL-year using the torus drive to reach another system. The slooooooooooooowplay function, so to speak. No, just joking

He... I must have been the first one of those 970 because you were kind enough to host it after I asked where I could find itCaptain Hesperus wrote:Hi guys,

I remember an IF game (text adventure) called something like "To Alpha Centauri in Real Time" and that was exactly it. You launch your ship and wait a couple of thousand years until you arrive at AC. I wonder if anyone is still playing itLestradae wrote:Except perhaps a player version that also can't jump and you have to spend a RL-year using the torus drive to reach another system. Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
Once again...
