Oolite Cache problem??? while installing my own OXP (oops)

Post by pagroove »

By installing my own Famous Planets Package on another machine
I came acros a nasty problem.

Situation is as follows:

On that machine a 1.71 installation is present. In the Add-on
directory is System Redux is already installed

When I install my Famous Planets I see the new descriptions but not the Famous Planets texture. I still see a system Redux texture. On that moment I assume that the texture cache doesn't empty correctly. So I exit Oolite.

I delete the cache file manually and SHIFT-start Oolite again but no luck. I still get the standard System Redux Texture. I exit Oolite again.

I then move the System redux.oxp out of the add on directory.

When I restart Oolite I see the correct Famous Planet textures for Lave (for example).

When I move System redux back in to the add-on directory and do a SHIFT start up I see the standard System redux texture again.

The problem is that I cannot install the package myself
I assume It has something to do with the caches.

Did anyone had the same problem ? I want to alter the description on the WIKI to make it easier for new users to install my OXP.

I thought I've tested this and also didn't get a single question about it form any user. But now as I'm installing it on another machine I get this problem.

Why are you using a outdated testversion? And take care that SystemRedux is v1.2.

Hope this helps... :-)

@svengali
Thnx for commenting

I was at my parents home. And I had not the time to install a new test release. Also I assume that not every user is using the latest test release so they could run into the same problem.

But you're probably right to point to the newest Oolite release as a lot of things are fixed on that release. And I have to say that I managed to install it on 1.72 (although I simply copied my add on dir from 1.71.1. to 1.72 and then checked which OXP didn't work).

Well then, If I don't get questions about it from other users then I will not put too much energy in this area
