Energy Bomb- either Oolite1.72 or Anarchies1.1???
Not sure which is responsible, but since I upgraded to 1.72 & installed Anarchies 1.1
I've not seen an energy bomb for sale anywhere (apart from ships for sale in the shipyard)
Even on the highest tech level world, no option to buy one.
Is this intentional with either?
Or do I need to re-visit my saved games to see which is responsible?

I'm on v1.72 and have Anarchies installed too. Everything is fine for me and I can buy Energy Bombs.Tivva wrote:Not sure which is responsible, but since I upgraded to 1.72 & installed Anarchies 1.1

Do you have some other oxps installed? Please post the fist 50 lines of your Latest.log (or only the oxp relevant) and tell us another secret: what kind of ship you are using.

Hi, Tivva,
for a start: Anarchies is not expected to do anything with Energy Bombs. If it is not for sale, something must be wrong.
My first question would be the same as Lestradae's: You don't happen by any chance to already have an Energy Bomb (either working or damaged)? This would effectively prevent you from buying another one, as every ship can only carry one Energy Bomb.
The second question would be the same as Svengali's: What ship do you fly? There may be some ships around which cannot be fitted with an Energy Bomb. Therefore you wouldn't be offered one.
And the third request would again be the same as Svengali's: Could you post anything relevant looking from your logfile? That would help us very much in finding out would could be wrong.

Currently flying an Imp Courier (I know it's not strictly elite but still a fave ship from the past)Commander McLane wrote:Hi, Tivva,

The Imp (V2) cannot carry an e-bomb, so you won't be offered one for sale. Its intended to balance the ship out. You can give it the ability to carry one by editing the shipyard.plist in the Imp OXP. The Core game will not display items for sale in the shipyard if (although they are available on tech level) the item cannot be fitted to your particular ship.
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

The Imp loads six missiles. Sacrifice one of your missile slots to carry a q-bomb instead. The Imp is fast enough to outrun the blast, especially when kitted with injectors.
Running Oolite buttery smooth & rock stable w/ tons of eyecandy oxps on:

Just checked, mine only has 4 mounts. ie after 4 bought- no longer a purchase option...
Edited to add:- that must be the Navy version - I can't afford one of those yet, but now got Mill shields & NEU
ps The Navy version can hold an energy bomb, just seen one for sale...

Ramaza has a Salvage Gang? Cool!Tivva wrote:LB, just for info.LittleBear wrote:The Imp (V2) cannot carry an e-bomb, so you won't be offered one for sale. Its intended to balance the ship out.
I bought one today from the Salvage gang in Ramaza!
I haven't doctored the ships plist, honest.
It wasn't by chance a salvaged Energy Bomb? You know, the one where they claim that the 'scratches on the hull do not interfere with its functionality'? This one is available to everybody, because the Salvagers are not very caring towards your ship, and just hammer in any equipment you are willing to pay for (they have very impressing sledgehammers only for that specific purpose) . (Just for your interest: the technical reason is that it is not possible for the script to check whether the original, non-salvaged equipment would be available for the player's current ship; at least I wouldn't know how to access shipyard.plist in a script. (Oh, and there is another, deeper reason as well: I simply didn't think of that case. ))
Anyway, as any other second-hand equipment it comes with a certain risk of possible malfunctions, which you are surely aware of.

You know, this may be an unintended feature - but it actually makes a lot of sense and I for one think you should leave this in. Items you normally couldn`t integrate into your ship, but the salvage gang just don`t care, they somehow screw the thing in anyways and good luck with it ... a bit like getting Viagra on the internet though no doctor would ever subscribe it to youCommander McLane wrote:... I thought of that, after my recent run of luck having to fix EVERY item purchased from previous SG stations....Commander McLane wrote:It wasn't by chance a salvaged Energy Bomb? You know, the one where they claim that the 'scratches on the hull do not interfere with its functionality'?

So i bought it quickly went to the Dodoc & saved game & tested it... BANG & brought out a lot of Vipers & changed my status...
So far it hasn't gone off accidentally, I just hope it works when I want it to go bang...
ps I don't mind having to fix things after buying them so cheap in the first place
