Although the next Famous planets will include all planets in normal resolutions I couldn't resist to make another HD. This time not a city planet but the milk-run neighbor of Xexedi, namely Laenin. Get in your workers commuter and travel there today!. (available from 3 nov)

I'm really loving the star & nebula multipliers in oolite 1.72, in this shot i've got them set to
star_count_multiplier = 12
nebula_count_multiplier = 18

...all very mysterious and moody like!

I want my Oolite to look like that...

Is that specular shading on that ship or is it the texture that has the reflection painted on?

it's being calculated by the shader, it's using the color texture to control the amount and colour of the specular highlight, it works really well on metal surfaces.
I think Ahruman & the devs might have given the lighting a few extra 0's & 1's in the code for Oolite 1.72, it's looking really really lovely.
@pagroove, the ship's called griff_boa at the moment, it hasn't come out in a proper oxp yet, the shaders need tidying up and it's a bit texture heavy at the moment.

Well it's a class in it's own. Maybe making another name for this (rattlesnake class?) Well and I've said it before, you should make a really big ship.
like a Griff Galactic Cruiser or something. Like a sort Queen Mary II in space.

this ship should come out soon, i'm just working on a shader to randomise the paint colour and if i manage to drink enough brain tonics, Ahrumans decal shader code too!

If I start a new game from scratch, I’ll definitely kidnap Griff and make him work as art director. :-)

Bloody hell, even the reflections on the hull look real, as opposed to just shading, I'm gobsmacked! Give that man a whole crate of Riedqaut ale this time.
