Aw shucks Doc - you say the nicest things - The worst thing is having a really good idea but not the time to get it out - and then forgetting it before it makes it to the boards.

Now I've got all 300 installed my machine has started to stutter again - although I have also installed all these fabulous new stations too so I may have to pick between eye candy and the Ads - however I've just got hold of that 256MB FX5950 Ultra which should knock my 128MB FX5900XT into a cocked hat - although I could probably do with another 1GB of RAM too (only got 1GB fitted)

And a bloody hard choice it is too. Now down to about 50 of my really really favourite oxps, which includes all YAH. Still take a bit of hit but I can live with that. Some of the constores slow me to a walking pace for the last k or so.
They add a great deal to the ooniverse, color and humor.
Need more ram and a better card too.

My PC is 5 years old - I really have to pick and choose. Unfortunately YAH drops the framerate down from an ok-ish 20 fps with realistic shipyards, down to 5fps and takes about 45 secs to come out of hyperspace.

By reference I get about 35 fps on a 'vanilla' Oolite.

Cheers,

Drew.

I think my PC is older - although its hard to tell as I built it from spare/2nd hand parts - it's an Athlon 2800+, 1GB RAM (dual channel 2x 512MB), we're both Ubuntu users I think, my fps varies from 90 down to 4 but generally hovers around 40 - YAH is my biggest OXP, then the stations (all of them), but I haven't got my other (ship) oxps installed.

Hope this one's not to obscure - will make more sense I suspect to our native English (speaking) players.

Quite a fiddly font - in the end I hoovered up loads of Waitrose online ads and cut out the letters I wanted - ransom note style!

Well that should stop the YAH thread being at the bottom of the first page for another week or so...

And another potential Con-store...

There still seems to be a problem with the font. The 'y' appears much sharper than the rest.

Hmmm - I think you're right - strange because the l i and y all came from the same advert at the same size - I will try a different re-scale method in GIMP and see what happens...

Cheers for the spot.

Having investigated the original lettering of the advert I stole the fonts from it would seem simply that the 'y' is the only diagonal letter - all the rest being pretty much straight up and down - something subtle has happened going from jpeg to png and rescaling but this slight blurring is also present on the original letters - ho hum - I may play around with it in slow time but can't really "fix" right now...

Good job DH

Nearly half way through the current set - 26 to go.

And just a reminder to you all: The reason that this OXP has been split up into separate sets is to let everybody enjoy ads. Most setups will be able to handle at least a single set at a time. You don't have to choose between all or nothing. Rotate and enjoy :)

Oh no - it happened - YAH slipped off the first page while I wasn't looking!

Ah well, time to put it back in its rightful place!

After all, even Rock Hermits might need to shop somewhere...

D'oh! Having looked at this on the laptop rather than my CRT desktop I've just noticed the not-quite-black around the star trail - will fix back and re-upload.

Hm. The only difference I see is that the colour of "Asteroid" changed to something more washed out.
