Ship identification help!!!

Post by drew »

I was playing Oolite with realistic shipyards installed and saw a ship that looked rather similar to the 'Firefox' in the movie ..er.. 'Firefox' (fantasy mig-31) staring Clint Eastwood.

Image

Looked great whoever designed it!

By the time I had turned around to ident it, it had injected away and as I was only in a tianve tourist rental at the time I couldn't keep up.

Anyone identify this for me...? Rebecca wants one!

Cheers,

Drew.

Could it be that you saw an Eagle MkII? (But it has only 0.25 LS ...)

If it was an Eagle MkII, according to my notes this ship was designed by Selezen.

Cheers :)

Alternate suggestion would be to step through the demoships at the start of the game (select N when asked about loading a new commander then when the Station appears and it says press space, use left/right cursor arrows to scroll through).

May take a little while, but you may see your man... erm ship?

Not the Eagle 2, i would have recognised it. The ship I saw definitely had two perpendicular 'rudders'...

Only have my laptop with me at the moment - will have to fire up oolite when i'm back home....!

Cheers,

Drew.

Might have been the Rigel Bomber - but I thought I saw horizontal stabilisers out of the nose cone section. The fuselage looked thinner and the nose a bit more bulbous...

...mystery ship!

I would wonder about my Manta Ray, but that's not in Realistic Shipyard...

But that looks more like an F-15 than Firefox.

Wasn't one of my Vampires, was it? (your link's dead)
http://www.purgatori.net/Isis_Interstellar.htm

because Firefox (and a Stuka!) were direct inspiration....

That was it!!! I think it was a mk1 looking at the pictures.

What's the spec on the ship?

I'm planning to have one fly past in chapter ten. For Rebecca, it's love at first sight...

Cheers,

Drew.

OK, the RS specs of Killer Wolf`s Vampires are as follows:

Ship Name Chance to Appear Revised Tech Levels Extended Cargo Capacity Maximum Speed Energy Banks Missile Slots Possible Equipment Roll/Pitch Gun Mounts Energy Recharge Rate Revised Ship Price
Vampire MkI Rare 6-9 20 t 0.37 LS 7 3 No ECC 2.3/1.4 Fore 4.5 187.800 Cr
Vampire MkII : Purgatori Very Rare 10-13 20 t 0.45 LS 9 3 No ECC 2.5/1.4 Fore 6.0 572.000 Cr
Vampire MkII : Reaper Very Rare 12+ 5 t 0.47 LS 9 4 No ECC 2.5/1.4 Fore 6.0 721.000 Cr

Stats should be the same as in the original oxp, only prices and TL availability will have been changed.

Cheers 8)

Excellent! Consider one sold to a Deadly combateer of mutual acquaintance...

If I do a third installment, I'm sure she'll get up to no good in one of those! 8)

Thanks for the identification (and the ship!) - I'll put a credit in the 'thanks' section for this too.

Cheers,

Drew.
