Hi all, Downloaded Oolite last week Already got several thousand credits and upto competent i think its an Awesome game
I think Elite was/is the best game ever. I 1st played it on the ZX Spectrum in 1984 and got to Deadly,
Some would argue that the best versions were on the NES or BBC i think the best version was on the Amiga A500 (which i only ever got upto Dangerous)
Just 1 question: ive downloaded a good few of the Add ons and it has seemed to slow the game down a bit is that normal?

My Pc is fairly high spec its got a Geforce7600 512graphics card and 2 gig memory, 64bit processor etc
Iv installed all the big OXPs the biggest being Random hits, Black monks, realistic shipyards, assasins guild Etc
It just seems to pause for about 5 seconds going into and coming out of hyperspace mainly

Realistic Shipyards has about 500 ships in it (its effectively almost every ship OXP in 1), so you will get a hit with that one in. Random Hits and Assassins should be OK as these only do things at particular systems rather than everywhere. Black Monks can cause a slowdown when a Monk Station is added as the model is complex. Try it without Realsistic Shipyards and see if its better. If so add ship OXPs individually. 500 ships is a lot and not all systems are gonna cope.
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

... Realistic Shipyards should run quite fine. IF there`s at least 1GHz of processor speed available, that is.Geforce7600 512graphics card and 2 gig memory, 64bit processor

True, but with the other high demand OXPs installed as well it may be too much! Best to try one OXP at a time to find which is slowing it down.

You can leave out some missions OXPs until you're ready for them. Assassins, for example, takes place in Galaxy 7, so if you're not there you don't need the OXP. There's more details on the various missions and their requirements here.
