N00b alert!! Shopping list for ship designing...

Hi

Having seen the gorgeous ships designed by you guys, I am drawn (sic) towards designing one myself. I have thought along an Oolite version of one of the following classics:-

The Eagle Transporter, from Space: 1999
The Flying Sub, from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
Sky 1 from UFO
Thunderbird 2
F117-A Nighthawk
Fireball XL5

The question is, what has to be on my "laundry list" of programs, textures, utilitles, tutorials, etc. that I will need to get started? I have searched, but I got confused amongst the threads....

Hi Merlin. Most of this information is found on the invaluable wiki. Amongst all the other goodies there's a list of useful software and a whole chunk of stuff about making an OXP. There's also Giles's how-to tutorial for Wings 3D.
