Problem with 1.71.2 archive

Post by The Dreamcatcher »

Been trying to get the latest version (after somehow losing my previous install) but whenever I try to unzip it I keep getting the following message..
Could not extract the file "Oolite (v1.71.2)/Oolite/Oolite.app/Contents":
Could not create the folder

I've tried on two separate machines both getting the same error and have also downloaded it from both mirrors.

Any help would be appreciated.
(is it still possible to get 1.71.1?)

Cheers

I suspect it doesn't like the space character or '(', ')' or '.' in file/path name its trying to extract - (although why it's doing this I'm not sure) - perhaps (if it's using the zip filename to form the path) you can rename the extraction file first and then extract?

Nope. That didn't work.
However, I use a program called The Unarchiver for all my compression stuff and until now it has never failed me. I tried using the OSX built in archive utility and that worked a treat.
I can't understand why Unarchiver failed. When I originally downloaded 1.71.1 it worked fine. Maybe there's something weird with the new one.

Anyway, it's sorted now thanks for the prompt reply.

yeah, the unarchiver sometimes stutters, in rare occasions. something about how the archive is coded, or perhaps just a blip in the program itself.
