dealFixedAmountOfDamageWithinDesiredRange?

Is it a competition for very long variable names?

Oh, that's nothing. Have you seen scanForNearestShipWithPrimaryRole, scanForNearestShipWithAnyPrimaryRole, scanForNearestShipWithoutPrimaryRole and scanForNearestShipWithoutAnyPrimaryRole yet? (And there is a whole bunch of others to it as well.)

Oh, and performHyperSpaceExitWithoutReplacing isn't bad, either.

At least the clue is in the name!

My first job (fresh out of uni) was to debug some code for the MOD written in Fortran 77 (having never done Fortran at uni the learning curve was extremely steep). The previous programmer had failed to comment any of his 100,000+ lines of code and had obviously got bored/writer's block and had resorted to his local green grocer as inspiration and thus I had to hunt down interest variables such as banana, cabbage and turnip to name just three,

Never again!

@ DaddyHoggy: And now imagine your previous programmer would have lived next to or in the local red-light district, and had resorted to names of articles he found there...
