New development release - 1.71.2

Post by winston »

For the exhaustive change log, see Ahruman's post:

https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=4487

You can get the Linux autopackage installer from the following places:

https://developer.berlios.de/project/sh ... se_id=7424 (scroll to the bottom of the list)

ftp://ftp.alioth.net/oolite/oolite-1.71.2.x86.package

Or you can bring your current install up to date using rsync, by going into the directory where Oolite is installed (usually, /usr/lib/Oolite if you installed as root):

Code: Select all

rsync -a rsync://rsync.alioth.net/oolite/dev/Linux-x86 .
(note the dot at the end!)

Update.

There's now a new point release for bug fixes - 1.71.2. You can get it from the usual places (as detailed above) - the new ftp URL is:

ftp://ftp.alioth.net/oolite/oolite-1.71.2.x86.package

Rsync URL hasn't changed. Keep an eye out on the Oolite-Mac section for the change log from Ahruman - I'm having to get this out before the changelog is posted because I'm away for a week from early tomorrow AM!

Update.

Due to a build problem on my build machine, bad data went out with the last package and some users have reported problems with missions etc.

A new 1.71.2 package has been uploaded. If you already have 1.71.2, I suggest using the rsync method to update rather than downloading a whole new package, but in any case, a new autopackage is available at berlios.de.

Apologies for the delay in getting the fixed package out; I'm suffering from a serious case of "toomanyprojectitus". Please PM me if the problems with this autopackage continue.

@Winston: I went to the directory where Oolite is installed /home/john/Oolite-dev/1.71-maintenance (as per the thread initiated by Getafix - https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=4595)

cut and pasted the line from your post:

Code: Select all

rsync -a rsync://rsync.alioth.net/oolite/dev/Linux-x86 .
I got a line about "Welcome to Alioth [something-or-other]" it said it was syncing and I went off to put my 1yr old to bed - when I came back I still had a flashing cursor (15 minutes? - 2Mb/s Broadband connection) - I panicked and killed the terminal.

Oolite 1.71.2 still runs and I get a screen which tells me across the title bar (in Windowed mode) "Oolite version 1.71.2 - June 2 2008".

So have I successfully updated? Have I broken it, should I delete/uninstall everything (as I've not started playing yet) and reinstall. (As this might get over my problem where it's looking in the wrong directory for the AddOns folder).

I will PM this message to you as well.

Cheers for all the effort,

DaddyH
