I installed v 1.7 and now the game keeps crashing whereas with good old v1.6 it rarely happened. Tried reverting to v1.65 but this hasn't helped - any suggestions?

Your system specs? How exactly did you install/uninstall the game? Did you use the uninstaller or did a manual clean up of the game directory? Was 1.65 and 1.71 installed in the same folder or different folders? Do you have OXPs in? If yes, remove them and see if it works.

ok thanks I will have a go at stripping it down and see what happens.

BTW do you think that the saves from v1.6 will be altered by v1.7? Because if I go back to using v1.6 then the save files may have been altered by v1.7 and it may cause some form of inter-stellar time-paradox as they are v1.7 saves on v1.6. This may possibly open up a worm hole right next to my printer.

Nah, you should be fine.

Just make sure that when you load a game, the ship you are supposed to be piloting actually exists in your OXP folder, if it is not one of the standard game ship types.

And I take it that when you refer to 1.6 you mean 1.65 and when you refer to 1.7 you mean 1.71.x. There is no Oolite 1.6 or 1.7 as far as I know.

right thanks i will have a go and see if i can get it sorted out and thanks for tip on ships. you are correct in the assumption about versions of oolite.

(sometimes i wish i could get a worm-hole next to my printer as they all seem to reach critical mass and swallow in millions of peaceful, gentle planets before imploding into a red dwarf simply because of a paper jam).
