Yes on many counts to the assumptions made. Firstly - yes I have lave and system redux oxps installed. Do I switch from windowed to full screen. Well, when I load Oolite it loads up in a window and I have to maximise that to get full screen - so yes I've resized the window.
If it's a bug then so be it - it doesn't bother me much - just wanted to share. As to hotrods. A very annoying (in the nicest possible sense, which is why it's still installed) oxp. I've met the Tiger gang on more than one occassion (as an aside though, when they attack me near a space station why don't the police help me out?). In one scenario I hyperspaced into a system and there was at least a dozen gang members. Needless to say I got out of Dodge very, very quickly (thank goodness for Witchlight injectors!).
Also, still no random crashes! Played Oolite solidly for about three hours with not crashing. Even the slowdowns are reducing as well!
Keep up the good work!

You want real fullscreen Oolite without texture problems? Do this: Start the game. On the status screen press '2'. You will see the Options menu. Select 'Game Options...' and go to the option that says 'Play in Full Screen'. Press Enter (or doubleclick it). Your game will enter fullscreen mode and your new preference will be saved. Now every time you start Oolite it will be in fullscreen mode (real fullscreen, not a screen-sized window). Follow the the same steps and select 'Play in Window' in Game Options, if you want to go to windowed mode again.
That's all, no need to resize your window every time you start the game.
On second thought, it strikes me as strange that you have to resize your window every time you start Oolite. If you do it once, the window settings are saved as well and next time it should start with the window size you had set it to when you resized last. Check your Vista settings, this sounds like you are not allowing Oolite to write its .GNUstepDefaults preferences file, normally found under oolite.app\GNUstep\Defaults (sorry, I do not have Vista myself and cannot really be more specific).

My display is also widescreen, but in fullscreen setup I have all the right resolutions (iMac). Maybe You just have to choose the right one.TGHC wrote:I play in window mode with the borders dragged out to the edge of the screen, If I play in full screen mode the planets are oval shaped because my display is a widescreen.

Oolite will do the right thing on widescreen monitors, if they’re not in a stretched display mode. Under OS X, stretched modes are currently rejected, but SDL doesn’t provide a way to differentiate between stretched and non-stretched modes.
Selecting a mode whose dimensions are inherently wide-screen (such as 1024x640 rather than 1024x768, or the display’s native mode) should give you correctly-shaped planets.

On that note, Oolite v1.72 on Windows will be able to correctly detect the desktop native resolution and default its fullscreen setting to that. At the moment it just defaults to 1024x768, which is obviously not what everyone has as desktop resolution and most probably the reason why TGHC sees oval planets.Ahruman wrote:Selecting a mode whose dimensions are inherently wide-screen (such as 1024x640 rather than 1024x768, or the display’s native mode) should give you correctly-shaped planets.

TGHC, defaulting to 1024x768 does not mean that you cannot change it manually. It is really very very easy. It can be done in three steps as follows:
1) Start Oolite, go to the Game Options screen, highlight Full Screen Mode: 1024 x 768
2) Press the right arrow key once, your desktop resolution should appear instead of 1024 x 768. If it does not appear, keep pressing the arrow keys until it comes up.
3) Once you have your desired resolution displayed, select the next option (Play in Full Screen)
That's it. You can now enjoy your game in full sceen glory without using stretched modes. You only need to do this once, the fullscreen settings are saved for the next time you launch Oolite. No need to wait for 1.72.

In the Windows and Linux builds, the Play in Full Screen selection is the actual command to execute the switch between window/full and vice versa (obviously, when in full screen, this option reads Play in Window). The Full Screen Mode: (mode) option is only used for choosing resolution.
This is just one of the differences between platforms. Growl messages, spoken messages and joystick configuration options are a few more.
