In another game I have your ship comes with a data base of all ships and stations (the ships library).
You can scan down a list of all ships and bases and read info about them like speed, weapon facings, crew number, ect... along with a pic of the ship/base too.
This would be a cool addon for Oolite.
Maybe it could make use of the redundant F4 button?
We already have a list of ships when you visit a planets' shipyards F3+F3 so would it be a similar job to do a ship data page?
Ship's library

It would indeed be cool - Elite-A on the BBC had it.
How much of a pain would it be to code into the game though, and how compatible with OXPs would it be? It would be easy enough to add an entry to the shipdata.plist file to enter a ship into the encyclopaedia...
Mind you, we always have the Wiki...what more do you need?
Now there's an idea - internet enable Oolite and have it hard wired into the Wiki...

Yeah true but it would be better looking up ship details in game.Selezen wrote:Mind you, we always have the Wiki...what more do you need?
I just thought it would be good for, when you see a ship during game play, to just look up some info on it before deciding wether or not to steal it's cargo.
I'm not a pirate myself so I wouldn't do that , but I have loads of oxp's installed and I see loads of ships that I know absolutely nothing about.
