Hi - done a search and discovered some detail on a bug that affects 1.70 - to be fixed in 1.71 to do with buying a laser.
I am ready to buy a mil for the front but note that even though I have 10K credits I choose one on the front and I end up with 0credits - ie not correct change and no refund for the beamer...
Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere I did a rudimentary search...
What's the temporary work around - other than "milk run"
TIA

The bug seems to happen if your amount of credits is less than twice the price of the laser. This is because - if I remember correctly, it's been a good while since this was fixed - the laser price is subtracted twice from your credits, resuting in a negative value for a variable that is defined to never be negative. The result is that you actually end up with some billions of credits if you buy the laser.
I think the easiest workaround until the next version of Oolite goes public is to buy the laser, then edit the credits in the savefile to the correct price.

I thought it was a version 1.70 only bug. In that case you could launch an older version of oolite, buy the laser in there, save and than play further in 1.70.another_commander wrote:I think the easiest workaround until the next version of Oolite goes public is to buy the laser, then edit the credits in the savefile to the correct price.

Not thinking, just speaking from experience with other types of bugs that forced me to play parts of a mission in a older version.stardotstar wrote:I'll try that Eric! Great thinking.
