Your ad here: a good source of minerals!

Post by Kaks »

I wanted to know if witchpoint buoys were easy to destroy, and I found out the following:

- yes they are
- and advert buoys are a very good source of minerals

The first one I destroyed had 8 tons in it, which was very nice! :)

The best bit was that my legal status was as clean as a whistle. I had a fleeting vision of 'family businesses' busily mining ads from the spacelanes, and when approached, answering 'honest guv, it's all legit!'*

Are there any plans to make such mining operations illegal?

Cheers,

Kaks

*('honestly, officer, I'm not breaking any law' - but it sunds better in english english british slang).

Its is illegal (just as shooting a clean ship is illegal). However (as in RL) whether you pick up an offender tag depends on whether a Cop saw you do it. Police ships, main stations (and some other stations) will award you a criminal record if they see you commit the crime. If there are no cops about when you fire then you stay clean. The Cops may even take your side! If you are clean and fire on a trader with no Cops about, but a few have arrived before you destroy him, if what the Cops "see" is the trader firing on you, he gets an offender tag for fireing on a clean ship!
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

I've noticed that in v1.70 there is a significant number of planets without a Navigation Beacon.

Is this because of Kaks and his relatives?

@davcefai: nothing was ever proved in a court of law!

Ah, the joys of living in a large - and largely cctv-free - ooniverse!:D

@Ark: is 1.65 that full of ads? Wow. Just imagine the scrap metal value...

@ Kaks: The only court of law in the ooniverse is located at the focus of a laser beam.

Actually Little Bear could have fun setting up a hit for this offence

No but in 1.65 you have far more debris for destroying large objects (With devastating side-effects for your processor - We have to thanks Ahruman for that change).

IIRC if your victim has sent out a general distress message, any cops responding will take his side and you get an automatic fine.
